Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for Fallout, an upcoming series based on the popular retro-futuristic video game franchise from Bethesda.

Set to debut on Prime Video in April, the trailer sets the stage for what longtime fans and newcomers can expect from the series. It’s a blend of action, comedy and weirdness, all of which is on display in the trailer.

“Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”.

The series follows vault dweller Lucy (Ella Purnell) as she journeys across the wasteland to rescue her father. Like the other Vault Dwellers, she’s naive to the world above and struggles to adapt ot the dangers of the irradiated wasteland.

“She is so innocent and so naive and obviously very privileged as well,” actress Ella Purnell told us during a virtual press conference when asked what intrigued her about the character. ”It was exciting for me to start in that place. You know, she's essentially a newborn baby. She hasn't had any real life experiences. All she knows is what she was taught and what she's read in books that she has in the vault. It's limited. And then you put her on the  Wasteland, and, you know, what happens? What happens with that? That's a really exciting  for me to start in.”

Ella is just one of several characters we’ll meet in the Fallout series. Throughout the eight-episode season we’ll witness characters at a crossroads while mysteries and plot twists unfold.

One of these intriguing characters The Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins. Although Goggins couldn’t attend the press conference, he did share a recorded message with us, providing a bit of context about his character.

“The Ghoul is, in some ways, the poet Virgil in  Dante's Inferno. He's the guide, if you will, through this  irradiated hellscape that we find ourselves in in this  post-apocalyptic world. He is a bounty hunter, an iconic  bounty hunter. He is pragmatic, he is ruthless, he has his  own set of moral codes, and he has a wicked sense of humor.  Much like me. [laugh] No, he's a very, very, very  complicated guy, and to understand him, you have to  understand the person that he was before the war. He had a  name. His name was Cooper Howard, and he was a vastly  different person than the ghoul that you've seen so far.

Over the course of the show, through his  experience back in the world before the nuclear fallout,  you will understand how the world was. And he is the  bridge between both these worlds. And I hope you enjoy it.”

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to enjoy it. All eight episodes of the Fallout series will premiere on April 11 on Prime video, one day sooner than previously announced.

The first three episodes of the season was directed by Jonathan Nolan of the Kilter Films series. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners.

@bobevanz - Spoken like someone who stopped watching Westworld after season 1 . . . But, yeah, cautiously optimistic. It looks great!

@McMurdo - Westworld was really good, it just had too many plotlines going on in season 2 and 3. Still hope they get to finish it somehow.

@bobevanz - Agreed, as far as writing anyway. Interstellar and The Prestige are some of the best work from either of them.

I think this looks a little better than the first look, things look a little more used and dirty than the initial screenshots seemed to be.
Hopefully this will be good.

As someone who hasn’t played the games , looks decent tbh so I’ll definitely check it out!!.

Goggins being the one introducing the idea of the Vaults and then seemingly becoming this wasteland dwelling mutant might lead to an interesting arc of someone who was a company man endorsing this system to someone who becomes disenfranchised with it.

Probably the character I’m most intrigued by as of now!!.

Between this, Shogun, The Bear S2, and The Boys coming back we’re in for some great television in the next couple of months.

An LA noir starring Farrell should be awesome on paper.
