Back in May of 2022, publisher Outright Games had revealed a teaser trailer for a then-untitled game based on the Justice League themselves in a cute-ish looking teaser that had the main heroes assembled from a then-unknown threat that closed it with the usual evil laughter. No word about was revealed for the rest of 2022, until later in December when it was revealed with a new trailer that included gameplay, story, and voice acting, including the finalized proper title known as Cosmic Chaos.
Per the title, the game centers around Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as the sole playable characters to save Happy Harbor, Rhode Island from the fifth-dimensional magic of Mr. Mxyzptlk. Where he decries himself as Mayor of his Metropolis, as his first rule would be where JUSTICE. IS. FORBIDDEN.
Reference aside, the trailer back in December revealed that Dana Snyder of Aqua Teen Hunger Force fame would be donning the bowler hat and magic gloves as the classic Superman rogue himself. Following Gilbert Gottfried’s unfortunate passing last April, many fans were worried about how DC would handle having Mr. Mxyzptlk in cartoons and video games without Gilbert’s hilarious shrill grating voice as him. But thanks to Cosmic Chaos proper, it’s safe to say that the folks at Outright Games and developer PHL Collective, pretty much handpicked a worthy fit for this fifth-dimensional trickster.
Aside from Mxyzptlk's new actor, recent news broke out from outlets that managed to get a hands-on-preview of the game, including more of the voice acting, and revealed that Nolan North, Diedrich Bader, and Vanessa Marshall would be reprising Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman from previous outings in animation. North had voiced the Man of Steel in the Young Justice animated series and the direct-to-video animated movies from LEGO, while both Bader and Marshall are currently voicing Batman and Wonder Woman in the Harley Quinn animated series on HBO Max.
While Snyder however, is no stranger to DC. The beloved voice of Master Shake had previously voiced the Penguin in the toy-oriented direct-to-video Batman Unlimited trilogy starring Roger Craig Smith, Plastic Man in the ill-fated, but short-lived animated series, Justice League Action and the Ocean Master in the mini-series, Aquaman: King of Atlantis from HBO Max prior to its removal last August.
More cast members for the rest of the League were revealed through Outright’s Twitter account, consisting of Cooper Andrews as Aquaman, Josh Keaton as Flash, Delbert Hunt as Cyborg and Kratos himself, TC Carson as the John Stewart Green Lantern. Andrews reprises Aquaman from the King of Atlantis mini-series, while Keaton reprises the Flash from the 2015 DC Super Hero Girls series. Pretty rad line-up huh?
With that being said, give the Justice League fifth-dimensional hell like it is Dana!
Justice League Cosmic Chaos will be released on March 10, 2023, for XBOX One and Series X/S, Playstations 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
