THE LAST OF US Episode 3 Has Reportedly Been Review-Bombed On IMDB Almost 30,000 Times

We had a feeling this might happen, and it's now come to light that the most recent episode of HBO's The Last of Us adaptation has been review bombed with close to 30,000 1-star ratings on IMDB...

Perhaps not too surprisingly, the most recent episode of HBO's The Last of Us has been review-bombed on IMDB, presumably because of its prominent LGBTQ+ themes.

"Long, Long Time" shifted focus away from Joel and Ellie's journey (for the most part, at least) to bring us the standalone tale of Bill and Frank.

Though these characters do appear in the game (well, Frank as a corpse!), things play out very differently for them in the show, and the episode ultimately evolves into a touching, heartbreaking love story.

The hour was widely praised, and some have even hailed it as one of the best single episodes of television of all time. Of course, not everyone felt the same way.

LGBTQ+ content of any sort usually results in some backlash, but this particular episode of The Last of Us received almost 30,000 1-star ratings.

It is worth pointing out that the show didn't actually change much when it comes to the characters themselves.

Some viewers seem to be under the impression that the showrunners "made Bill and Frank gay," but there are several not-so-subtle hints during the game that they were in a relationship. Granted, things didn't end on such a romantic and bittersweet note (Frank killed himself after realizing Bill was a misanthropic waste of his time)!

What did you guys make of this episode? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section.

The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the game's creator Neil Druckmann wrote and executive produced the show.

The first season will consist of 9 episodes, with the fourth chapter set to hit HBO this Sunday.

The episode was well made but boring as shit. The review bombs came from homophobes because it’s always dumbass grownups doing dumb ass shit

@MyCoolYoung - "grownups". 9 times out of 10, it's man-babies. To call them adult, is almost an insult to the specification.

@JoeInTheBox - Joel when you're right... you're right. No arguments here

@MyCoolYoung - I wouldn't even say it was well made.

It was well acted. That's it.

The whole thing was stupid. Not because it was a love story between 2 men, but because it was agenda driven low hanging fruit.

Bill was a phenomenal character in the game. So much so that they wanted to honor him by fleshing out his back story... but then that back story got high jacked by a gay director who has come forward admitting without mixing words his intentions were to trick people into watching a gay love story, and that gay love story took such priority that honoring their love story ended up killing Bill before he gets to even meet Ellie or do ANY of the iconic shit from the game that made him great in the first place... see what the issue is?

Like if guy wanted to make a movie or short film or his own TV show about a zombie apocalypse where 2 men fall in love, great. But to hi jack Bill and kill him off so you can trick people into watching a gay romance..... is stupid as shit.

And also doing this episode on episode 3 and disrupting the flow of us getting to know Joel and Ellie to spend a whole episode watching Ron Swanson get sucked off by a dude.... just seemed weird.

@TheVandalore - Your inability to express yourself without swearing speaks volumes as to how you are the EXACT type of person that I knew would get weirded out by seeing two men being intimate with each other, lol. You seem to have really zeroed in on "Ron Swanson get sucked off by a dude"...that was about 10 seconds long, but according to you, it was "a whole episode". Maybe you should sneak out one night and hit up your local bear lounge? Might feel better than reading Truth Social in a MAGA hat while conservative christian radio plays in the background, lol. Cheers

@JoeInTheBox - seriously, they should learn that all fictional tv shows and movies need to be focused on gender, sexuality or race or any combination of the 3. And even if the main story doesnt include it then they need to make some side characters that do. It's just basic science.

@TheVandalore - So you would have been okay with the episode if it was the exact same, but instead Bill survived and got to do his game scenes?

@TheVandalore - what was the agenda?

@TheVandalore - everything you said sounded like homophobia. You need to deal with that. I’m not mad at anyone for liking the episode and I don’t think it was an agenda because bill is gay in the game.

Not seen the episode or series yet, but I hear the episode killed off both the gay characters? Are we sure none of the review bombing comes from people who wanted to see Bill involved more in the story like in the games?

I think the review bombing may stem from both those who are against the representation but also those who support the representation but view the 'kill your gays' trope as insulting. It really does sound like a 'kill your gays' episode.

@MyCoolYoung - episode was good but at the same time I agree it was kind of dull. I agree the review bombing is stupid. People really suck.

@MosquitoFarmer - I’ve used this scene from MIB to describe so many groups and situations - perfect
