Chris Pine Is "Super Excited" To Join WONDER WOMAN

For the first time since he signed on as Steve Trevor, Star Trek star Chris Pine talks here about joining the much-anticipated Wonder Woman movie opposite Gal Gadot and also why he's excited to be a part of this particular DC Comics adaptation. Check it out after the jump!

It's been three months since Chris Pine reportedly signed on as Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman movie, but now the actor has finally confirmed his casting and also revealed why he's excited to be joining the long-awaited DC Comics adaptation. The Star Trek Into Darkness star was speaking with French magazine Premiere.Fr, so the following translation is courtesy of Batman-News and Google.

"I do not really know what I'm allowed to tell you," he said. "I'm super excited, of course. Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will direct, and we will shoot in film." Pine added, "What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful, strong woman to defeat the villains & save humanity."

Obviously, that translation is a bit rough, but it does seem to confirm that Wonder Woman will be shooting with film, as opposed to digital. Which is not too surprising given the first two installments of the DC Extended Universe, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, were also filmed that way. Regardless, it's great to hear that Chris Pine is enthusiastic about playing the love interest to Gal Gadot's Amazon Princess. Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman will soon begin principal photography with a release date that's scheduled for June 23, 2017. What do you think?

He'd have been a good Hal. But I'm just glad he's in a superhero movie.

Good that he's not Hal. Fans only want him to be Hal because Hal's basically Captain Kirk from the Star Trek films and OH LOOKIE WHO PLAYS CAPTAIN KIRK? CHRIS [frick]ING PINE!

So original....

I don't give 2 shits for Hal but if Jake Gyllenhaal is Hal, I would be 100% excited.

Do it WB.

I'm really curious about what Patty Jenkins can pull off, and I'm a big fan of Pine. However, I wouldn't place a bet on this doing well or being good.

I want more from Pine in the DCEU. Not just a love interest. But, I dont choose these things.

Anyone else feel like Chris Pine is being wasted; he would've been an awesome Green Lantern.

For all the advances in digital technology, it's interesting to see all the DCEU and The Force Awakens shooting on film. I guess Tarantino and Nolan will be happy about that.

Pine would have been a brilliant Hal Jordan... if he hadn't already done exactly the same thing with his Kirk. No point getting him to be exactly the same thing right.

WB should go another direction and get Dave Franco to be Hal.

Nice, can't wait, great actor

He's gonna own the role, it'll be cool to see him next to Gal

I don't think he's being wasted

For all we know, he turned down the role for Green Lantern and chose this one because he didn't want to get into a multiple film contract and Justice League movies, etc

He's already in Star Trek too

I was miffed as hell when he wasn't cast as Hal but then I realized he's already the headliner in another franchise and with Wonder Woman the weight of the film won't be on him like it would be if he was in the GL reboot.

"No respect for a guy who forces himself to cry for the cameras just to be in the PC club".

Can you explain this statement?

@superherodude1,

Chris is not wasted as Steve Trevor, if DC uses Steve Trevor they way I think they will, i.e. the Nick Fury of the JL.

In the comics, Steve Trevor started as the liaison between the government and the JL, and now he's the head of ARGUS.
