One of the directors in contention to direct a Wonder Woman film, Nicolas Winding Refn, has recently revealed his pick for who he wants to play the Amazon princess. In an interview with New York Magazine, Refn had the following to say:

At the U.S. premiere of Refn's Ryan Gosling neo-noir Drive at the Los Angeles Film Festival last night, Refn (director) referenced the Wonder Woman project he's long wanted to make, then pointed at his Drive co-star Christina Hendricks and said, "If I ever get to do it, she's going to be it." Hendricks would almost certainly be game — she told Rachael Ray last year that "I've been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life ... I had Underoos — I had Wonder Woman Underoos."

Refn is actually my choice to direct the film. Click here to see my recently posted editorial on the history of all the undeveloped Wonder Woman projects over the last 20+ years. In it, is an interview with Refn, where he has some interesting things to say regarding his take on the character.

As for Ms. Hendricks, I'm definitely a fan. Who wouldn't want to see her in the classic Wonder Woman outfit. Plus, she's a pretty good actress on Mad Men. She'd deliver much better than what we got from January Jones in X-Men:First Class. What do you guys, think? Is Hendricks the best choice or is there someone out there better?

I haven't seen any of her acting, and she's far from my first choice, but I don't think she'd be bad. Plus she definitely has the...equipment for Wonder Woman.

Anyone care to photoshop that bottom picture to put her in the WW outfit?

@Paul yeah, she definitely doesn't have the warrior face but she's a pretty good actress. Plus, would we really care about her face. She has the Kat Dennings factor, lol

I doubt anyone who is currently 36 with oversized breasts will be playing Wonder Woman anytime soon.

JatevinM - 6/19/2011, 1:32 PM
Graphic City@ I mean she has basically played a version of Wonder Woman before in the form of Xena. To me there are three roles in the DCU that Lucy Lawless is perfect for Hippolyta, Wonder Woman, and Big Barda. To see her as Wonder Woman or Big Barda would just be epic win.

@JatevinM Lucy Lawless would've been good 20 years ago. She's too old now.

claybo4131 - 6/19/2011, 1:36 PM
I do not think she would be chosen. Shes what, 35, 36, first off knowing DC/WB track record they will go with someone 30 or younger to play a female lead, more likely 25 & younger, they have done that in Superman & Green Lantern.

I doubt a Wonder Woman movie will ever see the light of day anyways.

10, 12 years ago I would have chosen Catherine Zeta-Jones, but WB won't cast her cause shes 41.

and whoever keeps saying Lucy Lawless, they would so compare that to Xena people would get turned off, way too close in comparison.

JatevinM - 6/19/2011, 1:37 PM
Graphic City@ Does she look her age? I don't think so, lets not forget that Xena wasn't that long ago.

MarkJulian - 6/19/2011, 1:39 PM
@tazmaniak She may be 36 but she doesn't look it. How old do you think Robert Downey Jr, Christian Bale, and Samuel Jackson are. Hell, Henry Cavill and Chris Hemsworth are both pushing 30. Plus, are you saying "oversized" breasts are not Wonder Woman like? Have you seen Linda Carter?Hell, Adrianne Palicki doesn't have enough up top to play WW. IMHO.

@JatevinM watch Spartacus and you will see how old Lucy Lawless looks

Hendricks is a good looking woman but she should not be Wonder Woman.

@marvel72

good choice.

i also would like Erin Cummings as Wonder Woman. ayway lets get a British actress for the role cause we make the best Superheroes lol

Taylor does indeed look the part, but can she act?
JULEZ13

My first thought: HELL NO!!

CONS: she's vampire white! - too damn pale. And she's a red-head and may not look right with black hair. Black hair and vampire white skin never looks right, she'll end up looking like a goth and I refuse to settle for a pale WW who doesn't have black hair.
Oh, not to mention she looks old.

PROS: She's very curvy for a white girl. She has big boobs and hips, which = Wonder Woman.

But compared to all the other actresses people have mentioned for the role, she looks the most fitting for the part. Everyone else looks too plastic or manly - it's really hard to find a good balance.

I love Lucy Lawless, even though she didn't have the hips or ass, she did have boobs, the warrior look and the acting chops so I would love for her to play Wonder Woman. But lets face it guys, she's old now. She looks good for her age but she still looks older.

For the role of Wonder Woman, whoever the director is, they would have to find a woman that's for the most part unknown. There just isn't anyone in mainstream right now that would be perfect for the role.

BOOBIES!!!! She doesn't really have the look for Wonder Women but she does have the boobs.

MrLoki - 6/19/2011, 2:05 PM
No, no, no, no, no, no!!!!!!
She has FAR TOO much meat. Nothing wrong with curvy girls, but she doesn't fit the part of WW at all. WW should be trained, she is an action heroine after all.

And January Jones was not that bad in X-men First Class. I actually liked her a lot.

She needs to leak a picture of those bad boys online.I'll bet it will be like staring at an eclipse.

15 years ago Monica Bellucci would have been perfect.
Now I say Alexandra Daddario.

long as its not Megan Fox (unless she improves her acting drastically) I don't care who gets it hope its an unknown or fairly unknown
JatevinM
JatevinM - 6/19/2011, 2:24 PM
Lucy Lawless does not look as old as she is and she doesn't look old. Aged a bit yes she does have that sort of look but in my opinion I think Diana should have a bit of age on her. If I had my way John Hamm would be playing Superman and Lucy lawless would be playing Wonder Woman. I think actors who have a bit of an aged look to them would show that superheroes should have even if its just a bit.

@Patriautism THATS THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX AND I LIKE IT!!! Thats the chick from Percy JAckson right? well if it is then thats a good choice, very good. She was tough, cute and still had some girl to her. Just wait a couple of years for some maturity and i think that would be an excellent choice.

Actually she was too steps away from Wonder Woman anyway.....She was Athena's daughter in the movie
