Before Israeli actress Gal Gadot beat out Jaimie Alexander ("Thor: The Dark World"), Olga Kurylenko ("Oblivion"), and Elodie Yung ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation") for the part of Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's untitled Batman/Superman film, many fans were hoping former mixed martial artist and Henry Cavill's current squeeze, Gina Carano, would be considered for the role. Carano said. “
I was never approached, and I don’t know if I was considered." As for her Gal Gadot getting the coveted role of DC Comics most important female superhero, "
I worked with her on Fast & Furious 6, and she’s amazing,” says Carano. “
Such a great person with such a solidness in her character, so I’m very excited for her to do that.”
Many people have questioned the choice. There main bone of contention is Gadot's incredibly thin frame as compared to a fitness nut like Carano. Though, Carano doesn't see that as an issue, “
I think people have an idea what they consider Wonder Woman," says Carano. "
I definitely know (Gadot) has been training and there’s so much more that goes into being a strong female character. I think people have their own idea, but I always like the underdog, I’m always rooting for the underdog. If the world says you can’t do something, I couldn’t care less because that’s not how anybody should live their lives.”
Carano also shot down rumors of her being associated with the female
Expendables film, "
I was never attached to the female Expendables," she stated. "
It’s just something like people put my name in there and then everyone thought it was truth."
