Now that the job of directing X-Men 3 has been given to Layer Cake helmer Matthew Vaughn, Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator (and Astonishing X-Men author) Joss Whedon may now be free to take up Joel Silver's offer to direct the Wonder Woman film.

Whedon had been a fan favorite to helm X3 and talk has it he was pursuing the project as well.

When approached about Whedon directing WW recently, Silver told Ain't It Cool News that he'd have word in "two days." Stay tuned.
