DEADLINE is reporting that Pedro Pascal has joined David E. Kelley's Revamp Wonder Woman TV show. Pascal will play a liaison to the police department who helps out Wonder Woman.

Pascal joins the cast that currently only includes Adrianne Palicki, who will play Woman/Diana Themyscira and Liz Hurley who will play the villain known as Veronica Cale. Wonder Woman is set to hit NBC this fall.

The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.

Why is she being referred to as the 'Amazonian Princess'? There's been NO indication that this show will follow ANY of the original comic book storyline! As far as I can make out, she a lame version of Batman (corporate executive by day, crusading vigillante by night) - WHERE does it say ANYTHING about her Amazon roots?

"Why is she being referred to as the 'Amazonian Princess'? There's been NO indication that this show will follow ANY of the original comic book storyline!"

According to the script review, they do cover her backstory of Steve crash-landing on Themyscira. There was also mention of the island being similar to the one on Lost, where once you leave, it's difficult to find again. She's supposedly going to be searching for it.

There's also a casting call for Artemis, who will appear in a flashback on Themyscira. It doesn't specify if she the goddess or the Amazon.

It doesn't matter. Unless they revamp their revamp and get a little closer to canon, this show will will be next season's version of The Cape.

This show is going to hurt any chance of there being a Wonder Woman movie, I think. After it fails, the suits are going to think that Wonder Woman is not bankable character.

This show isn't going to hurt any chance of a Wonder Woman movie because WB has no intention of making a Wonder Woman movie.

And they already think she isn't a bankable character. That's actually the reason they gave for creating a series instead of making a movie. They didn't want to spend $150+ million on a film they didn't think would be very profitable. They were much more comfortable spending a third of that on a TV series.

This sounds like utter trash. Why not a movie?

A liaison to the police depatment? Yet another white collar character on a superhero show. I think there trying to hard to make this tv show like other successful tv shows. This series will probably fail, but I'll wait and see this fall.

If this series turns out to be good, then it will run for several seasons. There wouldn't be much point to then make a movie because we'd already have a good live action version of the character.

tazmaniak - If that's true, then I stand corrected. I hadn't heard anything about that - I HOPE you're right. As for the potential for a movie, I've got one word to say to that - 'Superman'! We've had ten years of 'Smallville' and a 'Superman Returns' film. Now DC/WB plans another - granted, it's to maintain control of the property rights, but still... If it works for the Big Blue Boyscout, why can't it work for the Amazon Princess?

I think the difference is Smallville is a show about Clark Kent.It followed his journey to becoming Superman for 10 seasons. It isn't a show about Superman in the sense that he isn't called Superman and he doesn't wear the costume.

This is actually a series about Wonder Woman, where she is called Wonder Woman and will be wearing the costume, or their version of it.

Maybe this Supporting Fictional Character may have some influence from John Byrne's Wonder Woman series, Iam not talking about the new characters that David Kelly is re-creating new characters. I think our Original Wonder Woman may get some incarnations mixed up. Wonder Woman was Diana Prince during War World 2 stationed in the US Armed Forces in the Pentagon at Washington DC and in 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths wrecked down the characters including "The Flash", "Supergirl", and "Wonder Woman" were off limited from the DC Universe during that time.

And now we have Wonder Woman as Princess Diana (Herself) The Ambassador of Truth through George Perez's THE AMAZING AMAZON Character living in Gateway City, CA first she lived in Boston, Massachusetts where she was being mentored by her Greek-Educator Julia Kapatelis, in the current WONDER WOMAN series Diana is being mentored through the Greek-Culture to speak English in the Modern History.

I suppose he's playing Ed Indelicato, the Boston cop created by George Perez, who in the TV series became a Boston cop. How unfaithful this series is.

wonder woman when will they give her justice always changing everything with the iconic character at list in the cartoon movie the keep it with the mythology but now a new tv series of wonder woman and her enemy Veronica Cale why not Barbara Ann Minerva or Circe so many eviel enemies Liz Hurley cloud play any one of thous two. and what about her powers able to fly not anymore will see the invisible jet, and what about the fabulous recreation of the character in the G.Perez era 1987 they should stick with they origin. I have a few hopes for this new wonder woman TV series lets just see what happens when they show it on TV.

This show can only help a Wonder Woman movie. If that is what you want then I would suggest watch the show no matter what changes they make.

Why is it people on here have no problem with changes to cannon in the comics or animated TV Shows but when it comes to Live Action TV Shows or in the case of Superman Returns one minor change to one character they get butt hurt?

@Suzanne: In THIS particular case, they are totally [frick]ing WW up. For starters, she's a corporate executive. *GAG* She won't fly, instead she'll travel in little flying machines called "Ultimates". ooooh. And I just read that Steve Trevor will be a LAWYER in the series. If that's true....Well, that's David E. Kelley's specialty. I will watch the pilot and I'm really hoping it turns out to be great. I'll definitely write an article on it. But seeing Diana feel insecure about the size of her breasts when looking at a WW doll just doesn't sit well with me....

Uhhhh....Suzanne, they've done a lot more than "one minor change", and the reason all of us CBM fans get all butt hurt is because we've seen writers and producers take too many liberties with the character time and time again. They don't even try to understand who the character is, where they came from, or what motivates them. They're just trying to sell a product and make a quick buck. This is what we call "raping the character" and yes, some of us get a little pissed off about it. We compare that to drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

I know they changed the her job when she isn't Wonder Woman. To me that is less of a issue then if there were changes to Wonder Woman.

She flew in a plane in the original series too.

The only change made to Superman Returns was the name of his kid he should have been named Jon.

Thank you for responding but neither of you explained why no one seems to have a problem with changes other then in Live Action.
