With DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran in the midst of putting together an 8-10 year plan for the DCU, a lot of changes are being made to a franchise once known as the "DCEU."
It's unclear whether any of the actors from that world will reprise their roles, though we do find it hard to imagine Warner Bros. being willing to part ways with the likes of Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, even if DC Studios is starting from scratch. As is so often the case, there are lots of conflicting reports out there when it comes to what's going on, with Wonder Woman 3 at the centre of them.
Over the past week, we've heard that director Patty Jenkins clashed with Warner Bros. over her vision for the threequel and that she refused to converse with Gunn and Safran when offered feedback. Last night, the filmmaker issued a lengthy statement setting the record straight, and Gunn and now responded.
As you can see below, he's backing up what Jenkins has said, making it clear that any interactions he and Safran had with the director as part of DC Studios "were only pleasant and professional."
This may go some way in debunking the claims of heated clashes over the story treatment she penned with Geoff Johns, though we'd guess from this statement that Wonder Woman 3 does indeed remain on hold while plans for the DCU are figured out. In some ways, it even feels like a farewell from Jenkins and we do wonder if there's a little bit of spin going on here.
Jenkins probably won't return for the next Wonder Woman movie, though the character is bound to have a future on screen regardless of who is at the helm.
