The newest trailer for Wonder Woman just came out last weekend and was met with mostly positive reception, but now there is another controversy surrounding the titular hero. Fans of the iconic Amazon Princess have noticed a particularly strange moment in the trailer, which is at the 1:41 mark. Here Gal Gadot raises up her arms and it appears that she does not have any armpit hair at all. This is making lots of fans upset. Here are some notable criticisms:

"Is this seriously still happening in 2017," stated Slate Magazine.

Refinery29 called for a time where Wonder Woman could "prove that women - even those who are superheroes - don't have to cater to beauty standards that are meant to make them more attractive to men."

Critics of Wonder Woman's lack of armpit hair say that it would only make sense for an Amazonian to have lots of body hair, including armpit hair. These critics are also saying that Gadot's armpits were digitally altered in post-production, and they blame the studio for being afraid of showing women with armpit hair. Why has no one addressed Bruce Wayne's adherence to these same "toxic" beauty standards in BvS? Where was his luscious chest hair? I'm glad we can all tackle the most important issue facing society today; body hair.

@QuestionMarkMan - There's a difference with the situation you bring up, because men don't have to adhere to as many rigid, societal, standards of beauty as women do. And of course no women "has" to adhere to them, bur they most definitely feel more pressure than guys do.

However, I consider myself a strong proponent of feminism and see this as too far. There are certain times when feminism begins to get so nitpicky that it alienates other women. Is it wrong that Diana of Themyscira shaves her armpits? Is that a bad thing? If you're telling the makers of this film that having the amazons shave their armpits is bad, then that means no women or girls who do shave their armpits will see themselves represented. Is that sending a message to all females that do shave their armpits, saying that they aren't "wonderful" women as well, because they conform to societies expectations? Some women like to shave their armpits, what if Diana is one of those women too?

They do if they want a woman. The ladies have just as high of expectations as men do. Its ok around "the guys", but women want a man with hygene and grooming.

Nobody complained that Thor was not a redhead.

This is the comics version of Wonder Woman and, in the comics, she has never had armpit hair.

#LetWonderWomanShave.

Also (whilst we're comparing this with Thor), lets paraphrase the above quote:

"Men - even those who are superheroes - don't have to cater to beauty standards that are meant to make them more attractive to women."

Now think about how Thor is presented in the movies. He is sexually objectified to a very high degree. He does not look at all like a hairy, gruff warrior. He looks like a stripper or an underwear model.

@GwenLantern - Yes but Thor doesn't HAVE to look like that. He doesn't HAVE to be objectified.

And before you make the argument of, "Wonder Woman doesn't HAVE to either!!!", let me remind you of the internets reaction to Gal before BvS. Everything was about her physical appearance. She's too skinny, her boobs are too small, she has no muscle, she's not pretty enough. If Thor wasn't an aryan pretty boy, he wouldn't face backlash from fans. Make Wonder Woman a little skinnier than her fictional counterpart and people go ape shit. Thor can make as much money at the box office as an ugly man. Wonder Woman probably could not.
