Angelina Jolie And Jessica Chastain Are Reportedly Being Eyed For The Same Role In X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX
It looks like 20th Century Fox has a couple of big A-list stars in mind for a certain role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Could we see Angelina Jolie or Jessica Chastain join the merry band of mutants?
Though he does state that he doesn't think she's going to wind up taking the part, on the latest episode of Meet The Movie Press, Jeff Sneider mentions that 20th Century Fox has its eye on Angelina Jolie (Wanted, Maleficent) for an unspecified role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
We don't know if the studio has actually reached out to the Academy Award-winning actress or not, but that's certainly implied. However, Sneider reckons Jolie is more likely to go with Universal's Bride of Frankenstein - but Fox might be zeroing in on an even bigger fan-favorite star for the same role.
After the show, Sneider Tweeted the following:
Though he doesn't specify here, James McAvoy co-stars in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby with Jessica Chastain, so you do the math.
Obviously there's not a whole lot to go on here, but at the very least it does confirm that X-Men: Dark Phoenix will include a major new female character. Time to get those speculation caps on!
