Forget 'Cyclops', KINGSMAN Star Taron Egerton Has His Eye On Playing 'Wolverine'
Taron Egerton impressed many people this year with his charismatic lead turn in Kingsman: The Secret Service. While he was once linked to playing 'Cyclops' in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, it seems the young star would rather portray a different X-Man. Read on for more!
Having impressed as the lead in Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service earlier this year, many people had pegged Taron Egerton to play a young 'Scott Summers' in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. Instead, the role went to another young talent in Mud's Tye Sheridan. Egerton is currently filming Winter Olympic biopic Eddie The Eagle alongside X-Men franchise stalwart Hugh Jackman. With his co-star set to hang up his claws after 2016, the British actor told ScreenRant that he would love to follow in Jackman's footsteps.
"I am a huge X-Men fan! My feeling about that is… I don’t know if I’m quite grizzly enough. My facial hair is still very thin and patchy. I feel someone who plays Wolverine potentially needs testosterone in abundance. Yeah, I’d love to have a go at it, but I don’t know. [Laughs] I don’t know. I was with Hugh the day that he announced his retirement from that role. I did joke about that very thing with him. But the phone hasn’t rang yet, my friend, so I don’t know."
While he may not possess the necessary facial hair at the moment, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine 'Eggsy Unwin' as everyone's favorite feral mutant. However, with the First Class trilogy set to come to a close with Apocalypse next year, and Josh Boone's New Mutants on the way, is there any need for another Wolverine any time soon? Could you see Egerton in the role? Be sure to leave your the in the comments below!
