Benjamin Walker Cast As Beast In X-Men: First Class, Fassbender In Talks

It seems as if the earlier rumor reported by Multi has been confirmed, but it will be the bouncing blue Beast and not Banshee that Walker will be portraying in Mathew Vaughan's X-Men: First Class. Also, Michael Fassbender may well be playing Magneto, as EW confirm the negotiations are on..

Showbiz411 are reporting that Walker has indeed been cast in Mathew Vaughan's upcoming X prequel..

Matthew Vaughn’s “X Men: First Class” is picking up another cast member. Benjamin Walker, star of the Public Theater’s “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” is the name to remember. He’s going to play Beast, the character played in “X Men 3″ by Kelsey Grammer.

Walker is, like Grammar, is a Juilliard grad and is apparently the hottest newcomer in New York theater this season. His work includes portraying Kinsey (at age 19) in Kinsey, and Harlon Block in Flags of Our Fathers. Walker was also featured in the short-lived CBS drama series 3 lbs.

Here he is in action..

Having never seen the dude act, aside from that brief glimpse on stage, I have no opinion on him from that perspective. But listening to him talk in that interview, I get the impression he might be a good fit for the gentle, intellectual side of a young Hank McCoy. Will he measure up for the physicality the role will(should) require? This has still to be officially confirmed by Fox of course, but word is that Showbiz411 are pretty reliable with their info.

In other First Class news, Entertainment Weekly are confirming that Michael Fassbender is indeed in negotiations to Play a young Magneto in the film..

James McAvoy has found his nemesis. Twentieth Century Fox is in negotiations with German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender for the role of Erik Lensherr, the man who becomes Magneto in the X-Men origin story X-Men: First Class. Fassbender, who most recently appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, has been a hot commodity of late: Rumor has it he was considered for the villain role in the reboot of Columbia Picture’s Spider-Man.
