X-MEN Fan-Art Imagines How Pop Sensation Taylor Swift Might Look As Dazzler

Taylor Swift was rumored to be in the running for the role of Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and some impressive fan-art imagines how the Cats actress would look as the popular mutant hero...

Dazzler made her big-screen debut with a brief cameo appearance in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and although Taylor Swift didn't play her (The Orville actress Halston Sage ended up nabbing the role), the pop superstar was rumored to be in line to portray the music-loving mutant prior to the movie's release.

We're not sure if there was ever any truth to these reports (the trades have suggested that Swift may have considered taking the part), but artist Defendinisart has now shared his impressive interpretation of the Cats actress belting out a tune as Alison Blaire.

Most fans would agree that, on paper at least, Swift seems like an inspired choice to play the Disco Queen, but the chances of her taking on the role in the future seem slim. The X-Men will make their way to the MCU at some point, but it's probably going to be a while before Marvel Studios get around to introducing a relatively minor character like Dazzler.

What do you guys think? Would Swift be your first choice to play Blaire, or would you go with someone else? Be sure to share your picks with us in the comments section.

@MosquitoFarmer - Dazzler is vastly underrated. Cool strategic powers, strong personality, clear and persistent flaws. An opportunity to directly explore how the broader public view mutants (not just rioting bigots and terrorists). I get that she's easy to make fun of, but she offers a lot of potential in live-action, and especially potential that hasn't already been explored to death by the FoX-Men.

If it comes down to it, I'd probably give the edge to Lila Cheney as the best X-musician to adapt, but Dazzler still has a lot going for her.

I’d rather see underused mutants like Emma frost, Polaris and the rest. Don’t much care for dazzler 🤷‍♂️

I kind of like her music, but she grates on me in the interviews I've seen... but I think she's actually a pretty perfect cast for Alison Blaire. Not just the overall look and the musical talent (and the meta-appeal of having a pop star in the role), but even physically. People tend to forget that Dazzler was originally envisioned as being fairly Amazonian in stature (even by comic book standards).

Dazzler's actor being a diva in real life is not different to me than Iron Man's actor being an privileged addict seeking redemption. Dazzler should be kind of irritating and shallow. It's in the DNA of the character, and Swift offers the potential for that kind of casting alchemy.

I'd love her to be a big part of the MCU X-Men (I've always been partial to the late-Claremont stuff), so maybe Swift can't shoulder a big part or the commitment to film it, and that's fine. But still, it's still such a compelling cast to me.
