After receving a pre-production blow when Rupert Wyatt left the project back in September, Fox was looking at directors to helm the Channing Tatum-led film. Among the many names were Shane Black, Doug Liman, F, Gary Gray, and Joe Cornish. According to
The Hollywood Reporter, it appears that it is Doug Liman who will direct as they confirm Liman is in final negotiations with Fox to direct the October 7, 2016 release. Liman is best known for directing The Bourne Identity and last year's box-office flop Edge of Tomorrow, and has just finished wrapping up Mena, which stars Tom Cruise. What do you guys think of this choice? I'm not a big fan of Gambit, but if Liman is directing it, then it will surely be great and action-packed.
