Hugh Jackman Reinvigorated About X-MEN Franchise; "Less Sure" About Leaving

It's been long assumed that X-Men star Hugh Jackman would be leaving his claws behind after Wolverine 3, but now it sounds like he might be having a change of heart. At a recent premiere, he said the franchise has never felt fresher & that he's more interested in returning. Check it out!

Hugh Jackman landed the iconic role of Wolverine sometime in 1999 and since then, he has stepped into the career-defining role a record 7 times. Recently, many have speculated that he might only have two more appearances left in him, those appearances being 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse and 2017's The Wolverine 3. He has even made several comments over the past few weeks which indicate that he has been thinking about the future and when it might be time to retract his adamantium claws for the final time.

However, after speaking with IGN at the X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere in his home country of Australia, it seems like he might be having a change of heart about leaving his claws behind. Check out his comments below:

"At one point, you're right, I said I was pretty sure (about leaving the role). But I'm less sure as it goes along. Because after seeing this movie, the whole thing feels fresher to me than ever. And during this movie...I don't want to spoil anything, but it's kind of like a clean slate, so who knows where it's going to go. As long as I have the passion for it, and the fans will have me."

Now, while this isn't official studio confirmation, it is the closest we've gotten to some sort of confirmation that Hugh Jackman is interested in returning after The Wolverine 3. If this franchise can continue to produce high-quality films, it seems likely that Jackman will return as Wolverine once again in a future X-Men film and depending on where the franchise is heading after X-Men: Apocalypse, he might be able to either reunite with his cast from the original trilogy or he might be able to join forces with the First Class cast. The possibilities are endless.

What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below.

Very Cool. Hopefully this isn't seen as an open invitation for Fox to make Wolverine the focus of all their films. I just want him in X-Force.

I think he has like 10 more years of Wolverine physique.

They will start doing old man wolverine. Works out well. I think he should do more rolls that clint eastwood started on. Remake the good the bad and the ugly. The reason he got wolverine in the first place i think was because he looks so much like clint eastwood, which is who all the fans used to want for wolverine but he was too old.

So I hear that they don't even explain how Wolverine has his adamantium claws back after the Wolverine. Singer just ignored that movie. lol.

Before he hangs up the claws he should indeed do WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN type movie, then stop.
Use some elements of OML storyline, not exact adaptation because that shit is bonkers..cool but too crazy for a movie.

Jackman's contract is up, so if Fox wants him back, he can hold out for a lot more money. If Fox is going to make more of these shitty films, then I at least want Jackman to get his pound of flesh.

They should get someone more true to the comicbook height wise. Not as extreme as Dinklage but y'know...

The best X film is 1st Class but even that film really doesn't blow you away. The rest are lukewarm to cold. No life in them.

Hugh has been great.
As long as he can keep the body going then I'm happy for him to stay.

It's the same for RDJ.
Both of whom are probably the best casting choices in a cbm.

I hope they do an "Old Man Logan" but totally change the story and call it "Logan's Heroes".

Don't give a shit. He should play him as long as he wants. Lets hope he stays till he is old man jackman to play old man Logan.

No no no we want less wolverine not more. That means we're going to get wolverine and gambit versus apocalypse and not cable especially as kinberg said hes refusing to do any more time travel. casting young Jean and Scott is pointless if they're nothing but cameos.

I'm hoping Hugh Jackman will stay as Wolverine. So far Hugh is great in the role as Wolverine just like how Heath Ledger was great in the role as The Joker.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 5/17/2014, 4:15 AM
I see no one complaining about Ruffalo or Downey. lol smh And here comes the defense comments:

"*cough* fart *cough* technically "BlackNerd" Downey has one more film left in his contract! At least they're home where they belong!"

Adam Sandler Voice: SHUD APP!!!!!!!

Anyway, I think they'll have to recast eventually. I'm sure he'll change his mind after Wolverine 3 or Apocalypse. However when tu do eventually recast him I want it to be done smoothly an not just a hard transition.
