In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly Hugh Jackman gives a quick update on the status of The Wolverine.

"It starts shooting in mid-October. You know James Mangold is directing it. You know it's set in Japan. We have not really cast it yet, so there's not a lot to tell you. Any other elements of the script I tell you, I'd have to kill ya."

Some of the filming will take place on Nov. 11 to March 1, 2012 at Canadian Motion Picture Park in Burnaby, which is famous for some of the scene for Twilight, Supernatural and Fantastic Four were shot.

I think it's sort of strange that around five months of shooting will take place in Vancouver yet Aronofsky left the project because he didn't want to be in Japan filming for over a year. That would end up as 17 months of shooting. Something is wrong with this picture.

marvel72 - 8/18/2011, 7:45 AM
@ Hawksblueyes

you raise a valid point,i think it was more like aronofsky wanted full control of what went into the movie i.e r-rated,following the source & not flooding it with mutants that have nothing to do with the story.

Marvel72 - Yes, He goes after a grizzly gone mad with pain due to a hunter not putting the animal down cleanly. Great Graphic Novel. Full of emotion. Logan struggling with his own maddening animal within and his great love for a woman. Logan is absolutely fierce in that book. They would do well to stay very close to it's story if they are taking him to Japan.

Wolverine needs to finally dawn his yellow costume. Now they have the perfect damn excuse. It will be his japanese sparring costume! Please mask and costume! Wolverine needs to get back on the ball.

Hopefully this will be adapted from the Wolverine limited series by Frank Miller. Clan Yoshida, Silver Samurai, The Hand (not the hand from Elektra)and no extra cameo mutants!

[frick] this film, first one was a slap to the face and piss in the eye sockets of every fan of the source material in the world.

I have faith in this. Fox is learning from their mistakes, and they're getting better.

@Marvel72 really? You're still on the theory that he left because Fox is still "an evil mastermind who won't let anyone do what they want?" really?

Umm...First Class? Predators? Apes?

And would you have left your family to direct a film (a long shoot, mind you) where a huge earthquake catastrophe just hit?

Whatever gets you through the day, man...Just know, not alot of people will take you seriously in the future...

[frick] this overacting douchebag. He will never be Wolverine in my eyes. He needs to get a career outside of Wolverine and let somebody with talent play the character for this movie to have a shot

wolverine is the best at what he does. he is the best at being a fricking screen hog.

Marvel72, what makes you think Aronovsky wanted to stick to the source? He may have, he may not have. Speculating on his departure as being negative on the film's stand point reminds me of when people thought First Class was going to suck because Singer didn't want to direct it...and we all know how that turned out; Best reviewed CBM of the year!

@ RockNRollCC

i can believe whatever i want if you honestly think that studios don't set up ground rules for films to follow because they do provide the budget & if they like what they see they may throw more money at you & also i really don't care if people take me seriously or like what i say.

@ ryguy88

best reveiwed but took $100,000,000 less than thor & captain america is slowly catching it.it was a good film but after rewatching it,it did lose some of what made it good in the first place.one character that kept me watching & it did feature a bunch of characters i didn't really give a shit about.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 8/18/2011, 1:45 PM
Best reviewed none the less. And when does the amount of money a movie makes determine how good it is? And you not giving a shit about characters doesn't take away from it being the best reviewed CBM of the year. Say it with me; X-Men: First Class is the best reviewed CBM of 2011;)

Sigma, they are making movies. A good movie is a good movie regardless.
SigmaCenturion
SigmaCenturion - 8/18/2011, 2:07 PM
@ryguy88 yeah. i think the movie could have been better if they used the real line up or just took out the extra characters. just leave it at prof x and magneto. those are the only two i'd be interested in instead of the those other rejects i saw in the trailers.

I'd prefer it that Marvel got the rights back but who knows, maybe Fox/Marvel can make their 2nd good comic book movie?

First Class is the only good fox/marvel film I've seen.
