Jennifer Lawrence Talks Naked 'Mystique' In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The Oscar winning actress will don the blue paint once again in Bryan Singer's upcoming X-flick, but unlike in First Class, she'll be starkers every time she takes her true Mutant form. Read on for he thoughts on this more confident take on Mystique..

Mystique favored the au naturale look in the early X-Men movies, but -- aside from a few shots -- the less sure of herself version of the character we met in Matthew Vaughan's X-Men: First Class still wore cloths, even when she took her blue form. Well, that's all about to change in Bryan Singer's follow up! We previously heard that this time around Lawrence would be wearing a body suit to limit the time needed to be spent in the makeup chair, but apparently there will still be quite a bit of paint used too. In the following interview with Sci-Fi Now, Jennifer Lawrence also reveals that it won't just be Raven's appearance that changes (leaked set images reveal a slightly darker blue -- more akin to Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique) but also teases her development as a character.

"I’m naked. But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the ’70s outfits. Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we’re still using the same paint. But she’s different in this film too. She was struggling – like a lot of normal humans – with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud."

I think it's safe to assume from this and the recent production snaps posted by Bryan Singer, that we are in for a much more confident, physical raven Darkholme in Days Of Future Past.

And yet your heart is big enough that you comment on things you don't care about. That's inspiring. :)

Mystique pulled off a pretty dick move against Xavier at the end of first class. Regardless, I'm interested in seeing the Xavier/Mystique dynamic in DOFP.

never understood why they went for naked mystique instead of clothed.

mystique is meant to look sexy not covered in lumps that to be honest makes her look disgusting.

Wish I could be that paint about now...

Anyway, I wonder if they'll give her the white dress costume in any future films??

Jennifer Lawrence is amazing. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

She brings a lot of depth to Mystique.
I'm so happy they've kept her naked, I thought Singers re-imagining of Mystique's look is the best part about the franchise.

I hope we see a lot of fight scenes from her this time round.

I don't get why she doesn't wear clothes... be Mutant and Proud but why naked and proud? I mean nothings wrong with that its our pleasure to see you naked but it doesn't make any sense.

Mystique has always been a dangerous, snake like woman. So why not give her scales? They look so cool. Just painting her blue would look so so so bad on screen, like a big budget cosplay.

Also, she doesn't need to wear clothes, she can make them herself and she's proud of how she looks so why should we wear clothes? Also, the dress isn't very practical when fighting.

Plus I've been meaning to ask all the X-Men Film fans what direction do they think they want to see franchise go after Days of Future Past???

Age of Apocalypse
Shadow King
Phoenix Saga (done right *in space and etc*)

Or what new X-Men characters would you like to see in a future X-Men film part of Singers universe...

Characters such as...

-Colossus
-Gambit
-Storm
-Jean
-Scott

Are all very well alive in this universe during the events of Days of Future Past.

IMO Mystique would look more sexier she has only blue paint on her without those scales and wears her comic attire.

@SpiderParker

Perhaps the time period known for naked protesting Hippies will have a slight effect on her nakedness! lol

God I hate the Fox X-Men movies, they butcher some of my favorite comic book movies

The whole point of her being naked is symbolic of her stripping away the bondage of her old life, her "slave life" as Raven, and beginning again as Mystique.

Exactly @Ror you summed it up perfectly <3

Clothes are the shackles of her Mutant life. Her mutation is physical, to cover it up is to cover her mutation.

Jennifer Lawrence is the new Meryl Streep.

Ok guys I get it, she just doesn't want to cover her body cause she is proud of being a mutant.

You know what? I'm proud of being a human. Everyone should be proud to be a human, especially girls.
*strips and throws off the clothes* ;)
