Kevin Bacon In Talks For X-Men: First Class Main Villain

According to Deadline, Kevin Bacon is in negotiations to play the main villain in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. But who could it be?

Casting for FOX's upcoming prequel to the previous trilogy," X-Men: First Class" doesn't seem to be relaxing, with three cast members announced just yesterday.

And now, Deadline is reporting that Kevin Bacon has been offered a role and is negotiating to play the villain in "X-Men: First Class." Unsure of his character, and they have to make his deal.

Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominated, Kevin Bacon is most known for his roles in Animal House, Footloose, Flatliners, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Mystic River, The Woodsman, Friday the 13th, Hollow Man, and Tremors. Turning 52 just yesterday, Bacon can been seen in James Gunn's upcoming Super with a mystery release date.

But the big mystery is who exactly would Bacon portray out of the mutant villains in the X-Men universe. Back in 09' when Bryan Singer was attached to direct "First Class," he said there will be a lot of new mutants and ONE great villain.

If and when a deal is made, Kevin Bacon joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast),Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), and Lucas Till (Havok). And filming begins August in London, and the film hits theaters July 3rd next year.

DCMF - With many villains in store, there are a few top X-Men villains, who have yet to make a big screen appearance. They are The Shadow King, Proteus, Apocalypse, and Mister Sinister. Though Bacon is an odd choice for any of them, I can see his playing the leader of the "Hellfire Club," Sebastian Shaw. Who do you think this great villain could be?

Since few are technically supposed to be aware of mutants at this stage of the continuity, I vote David Moreau and not Cameron Hodge. Especially since he enslaves teenage mutants.

I don't really see him as Shaw. Sinister makes the most sense, I guess, if he is not just a human character. Also, since both Summers brothers are in it, and Sinister is obsessed with that genetic line. Maybe will find out why Havok wasn't in X1 (assuming some attempt at continuity).

A long time ago on xmenfilms.net I posted how I think Fox could make First Class and some what make us fanboys happy, it almost looks like they are following my ideas. I could so see Kevin Bacon being Mr. Sinister. http://xmenfilms.net/blog1/?p=1174 this is the link to my comment. But if you dont want to follow the link, here is what I had to say.

What Fox needs to do for X-men First Class is introduce Mr. Sinister (Daniel Craig) as the main villian, and bring the whole story line of getting Jean and Cyclops DNA, then he some how gets away at the end of the movie. X-men First Class shouldn't have the X-men be a powerful team, rather just a team that barely gets by since they are all new at trying to be a team.

Later make X-4 with Mr. Sinister coming out of hidding along with the clones. But have Ms. Marvel be the main villian and have her kick the X-men butts so Rogue can jump in and absorbe her powers so that we can finally see how powerful Rogue is really suppose to be.

Since Fox messed up the Wolverine Movie, and the Story line of everyone, I think that First Class should be the following

1. Cyclops
2. Jean Grey
3. Beast
4. Emma Frost (only cause they cant use Iceman since he would be a child.
5. Banshee ( I read that he was suppose to be written in as one of the mutants saved at the end of Wolverine, but took his name out. He is one of the Red headed Kids in the cages that wolverine frees. He would replace Angel as one of the first 5 who can fly. Plus he would be around the right age as the comics. He is also the father of Siyrn who appeared in X-2 and X-3

Im going with Overcross with this one...id like to see a Mr. Sinister done properly (though probably wont happen with Fox). Apocalypse needs to be African, man.

Very interesting. Hopefully Shaw. They could use the Hellfire Club storyline and hijack Emma Frost from the X-Men to make her the White Queen at the end of the film...?

I wouldn't mind seeing him as Sinister either. The dude's a great actor and could easily pull it off.

@flames809,

Well at the end of X-3, the film makers left it open to show that The Cure was not permanent as Magneto was seen moving the chess piece right before the credits rolled through. X-4 just needs to take place 6 months later or so showing that all the mutants are regaining their abilities.

Well since they butchered the dark Phoenix story line the Hellfire club seems redundant. Sinister could work. It would be an easy way to introduce characters like his marauders to battle the x men. Lets not forget it would introduce the savage land and. . . Ka-zar and sauron!
