RUMOR: Fox Planning To Revisit The Dark Phoenix Saga For The Next X-MEN Movie

Chris Claremont's Dark Phoenix Saga remains one of the most popular and discussed storylines in X-Men comics history, and we might just see 20th Century Fox take another crack at it in the near future. The studio used certain elements of it (well, Jean went bad... so one element) for Brett Ratner's The Last Stand, but even those who enjoyed that movie were left dissatisfied with how the saga was adapted.

Now, LRM is hearing that there are plans to revisit the arc for the next movie, and make it the "central focus" moving forward. This comes off another recent rumor that Fox might be about to "reconfigure" the franchise, with Simon Kinberg taking a larger role in bringing the universe together.

If true, this wouldn't really come as much of a surprise anyway, as The Dark Phoenix was hinted at in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse when Jean (Sophie Turner) harnessed some of her untapped mutant power to defeat En Sabah Nur.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see a more faithful interpretation of this story in he next X-Men flick? Sound off below.

No thanks.

No interest in the Phoenix if it's not alien.
