How about we break down how First Class made no [frick]in sense just like Origins. It had heart but ruined everyone but Magneto and screwed continuity despite clearly establishing itself in that continuity by using minutes of footage from the original

Thor and Journey into "Mystery" (as well as the Greek Pantheon) are meant to be just "mysterious" and magic - not explained.

There are so many other characters in the MU that could/should be explained - not the Norse and Greek gods though.

Magic and mysticism are very scientific. A lot of what we've been discovering with portals, dark matter, quarks, the Higgs Boson, and light technology, Astrophysics and Quantum sciences are very in line with esoteric and ancient philosophies.

One thing about the whole "Batman would only last 3 years" is that he compares Batman to football players and UFC fighters. The issue there is that these guys go up against the best in the world, whether it be the best linemen/linebackers, or the best fighters, and they regularly take beatings, even when they come out on top. And in the case of the UFC guys, eventually it's some younger guy who's trained just as much and has a gameplan specifically for the champ who ends up beating him.

Most of the time, Batman goes up against plain ol' regular thugs, and they don't even end up touching him. Heck, even most of his supervillains aren't even close to being physical matches for him (eg. Joker, Penguin, Two-Face).

I would say the 10-year thing sounds close, just because if he starts being Batman at around 25-ish, he's probably gonna hafta retire once he starts getting close to 40.

On the other hand, if you want to argue that there's no way Batman would last that long without getting shot in the face or whatever, then I don't think you can argue much on that one.

Plus, there's the whole fact that Batman did go up against someone who was a physical match for him, and had a gameplan for him, and he wound up getting his back broken. So I guess there's that.

When I first heard Thor was tied in to science, I immediately thought they would explain away all the magic stuff (like Stentz said, a motor in his hammer, etc.) I'm so glad they didn't do that and its kind of unexplained.

How about we try to explain Captain America, or better yet, the Hulk? Nope. We just gonna stick with characters that have been over explained. Well, okay then.
