Liev Schreiber is about to get feral, sinking his teeth and claws into the iconic role of Victor Creed, AKA Sabertooth for next summer's prequel film X-Men Origins: Wolverine opposite Hugh Jackman as comicdom's most popular mutant. And as he tells ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype!, he enjoyed vying with Logan to be the best there is at what he does, even if what he does isn't very nice.

CS/SHH!: Did you ever think you'd be doing a comic book movie like "Wolverine"?
Liev Schreiber: No, I didn't. I always hoped I would, but I never did. It was a sort of natural graduation from "Defiance," actually. It's true. It was a natural next step.

CS/SHH!: Why did you want to do "Wolverine"? What was the attraction?
Schreiber: I hope I'm not blowing anyone's cover here, but I don't think men really mature intellectually and emotionally beyond 22. Your bodies evolve, but nothing else, really. And so why should I stop wanting to be in a comic book movie?

CS/SHH!: What was your point of entry to the "X-Men" mythology? Were you familiar with the characters from the comic books at all?
Schreiber: I was a fan of the comic books. I just loved the character of Wolverine. I always have. That sort of deeply ironic and very urban sensibility in a superhero was something that I thought was really groundbreaking. And the style of writing was... particularly the very sort of editorial style. I just always loved it. And I think that we were able to capture some of that darkness in this movie, so I'm very proud of it.

CS/SHH!: So, what can you say about that film, just to touch on it a little, as a character, after...
Schreiber: I'm very excited about it. I've seen some footage, and I think it's gonna be really very good.

CS/SHH!: How bad-ass do you look as Victor Creed?
Schreiber: It's hard for me to say. But I'm really looking forward to people seeing it. I found it to be really intense. The character I play is incredibly brutal and feral, has blood-lust unlike any other character I've ever played. This guy is a real killer.

CS/SHH!: Did you enjoy working with Hugh?
Schreiber: I love Hugh. I mean, Hugh is the reason I did it. We'd been friends for a long time. And it's just so much fun to work with him…To do fight scenes with Hugh was really terrific, because as a dancer, he has that kind of discipline and choreography. And I always studied to be a fight choreographer, and always wanted to be a dancer too, but didn't quite have the feet for it. But we had some remarkable fight scenes together, and I'm looking forward to people seeing those.

CS/SHH!: As a veteran of superhero action, did Hugh have any advice for doing that kind of movie?
Schreiber: "Lift weights." [Laughs] I did. I lifted weights, and I ate an army of chickens.

i know he doesnt look at all like Sabertooth from the comics but i think he will be a great Creed. ive always liked him as an actor (scream, manchurian candidate, Ransom) and he looks shit cool in the trailer

I agree with rorschach, while Liev obviously doesn't look the part completely, thats more the director and other powers fault. Liev has the height and build, the studio just decided not to go overboard with makeup. I think he will pull it off. And this movie looks like its packed with action. There are alot of scenes that make me wonder where they are going, but in a hopeful and good way. If you watch the preview closely, you will see what is obviously a very young Storm(about 4-5 years old). The white hair and eyes are a dead giveaway. Combine that with the fact that it is widely known that a young Cyclops was cast and is in the movie, as well as the scene with the girl who is obviously Emma Frost, and Wolverine running down that hallway opening all the cells and the incorporation of Gambit, a person could assume they may be introducing Mr. Sinister in someway. This could also just be that all these mutants were captive in the Weapon-X labs. But take a minute to tie all that together in your head while applying the 'poetic license' Hollywood will pull and you will see that it works out.

lol, i forgot to comment on the interview. I like his attitude. Those few statements sold me on a few doubts. I think he will do good.

Liev Shrieber, I thought, has always been a great choice for the role. Yea, he doesn't look that much like Sabretooth, but he's definitely got the chops and looks does look badass in the trailer. It doesn't matter what you say, he looks like a deranged, feral killer. With an oddball sense of humor to go with it. I think he will do great and I am really looking forward to this movie.

As for all the other mutants, I could see introducing Sinister as the head of the "orphanage" Scott was in. That would be the way to go IMO. I wouldn't like the fact that they're ALL a part of Weapon X in some fashion, but i'm sure it wouldn't kill the movie. Just add a somewhat unwanted twist, at least for. But definitely wouldn't be a deal breaker.

OK, now that the 3 of us have praised the movie. ENTER THE FANBOYS to rip it apart and say how much of an abomination it's going to be and blah blah blah. You know the routine.

Lol. I'm very interested to see where this movie could go. Yeah, cramming them all into Weapon-X project would be lame. I could however accept a blind Scott Summers, a young Emma Frost, and a very young Ororoe Munroe in the Sinister orphanage, but don't show Sinister! Save him for X4, X5, and X6. That would help alot with explaining why Gambit is around. Not to mention Gambits early association's with Sabertooth and Sinister.

im happy they have him they way they do in this movie, that whole huge furball thing was just kinda weird in the first x-men movie and anytime sabertooth was in a fight scene he just look awkward like he had a hard time moving in all the crap he was wearing, its gonna be good...i just know it haha
