X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Will Be The Biggest X-MEN Movie To Date

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Cast: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, Ben Hardy

I think it'll be a good movie, but I'm just not as excited about it as I am other films. The trailer was decent, but just can't compare to the epic BvS or Civil War.

For me, the most anticipated are:

1. BvS
2. Civil War
3. Suicide Squad
4. Deadpool
5. Apocalypse
6. Dr. Strange

1BvS
2Doctor Strange
3Civil War
4Suicide Squad
5Deadpool
.

.
And Apocalypse has no chance this year

I hope it's good, but honestly I keep forgetting about it, because of all the other CBMs coming this year.

I LOVED DoFP so I think this will be at least pretty good.

1. BvS
2. Suicide Squad
3. Civil War
4. Apocalypse
5. Deadpool
6. Dr. Strange

All of them had chances to end up being GREAT movies within the genre.
Golden year for the CBM.

So wait...The movie with the mighty, nigh-invincible and potentially world-destroying Apocolypse as the main villain will be bigger than all those X-men films where their biggest threat was a living magnet!?

Say Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Love the scene at the end of DoFP. Young Apocalypse looks just like Genesis, just like he should!!!

@ Heaven's Warrior:

Agreed about the X movies vs the MCU.

And I didn't realize that this comes out 2 weeks after CW. Yeah, that's gonna steal some thunder from CW.

This was the exact same thing that happened to MOS, which came out in the summer of 2013, amidst nearly a dozen other summer block buster films. Meanwhile, TWS came out in March of 2014, with little to no competition before, during, or after it's premiere.

Same thing happened with TDKR & ASM in 2012, being released within a week of each other. Major movies being released so close to each other really do have an adverse impact on each other.

How is this news?

Singer and Kinberg have been saying this was gonna be the biggest X-Men of all since they started talking about making it. Singer has repeatedly refered to the film as a "disaster movie". This is not new information.

@AquamanIsTheBest

Whether you like the Fox universe or not, Magneto is a top 10 comic villain of all time. And his ability to control anything metal in the world is an insane threat. Bash the movies themselves if you want but don't talk out of your ass.

The dude is finding an itch in his head to scratch when they ask him about the continuity of the films.

Kinberg, you seem like such a generous and loving guy but honestly If you all cared about the continuity that much then why solidify yourselves into a future that doesn't even look like a possibility at this point.

-Bobby and Rogue are still together?

-Angel in Apocalypse is incredibly older than what he should be. Even if he was born during the events set after DoFP he should only be 10 years old. Check my math if you don't believe me. I endlessly begged SInger to just make him 10 years old and have Apocalypse age him, but of course the most simplest ideas fall on deaf ears.

-The actor who played Colossus isn't even in Deadpool (for the most stupidest reasons at that)

-Jackman's Wolverine is about to be recast which will be a total head scratcher for anyone who takes the future scene at the end of DoFP seriously.

-Legion is now reportingly being placed in a [frick]ing alternate universe where muties aren't even known to exist. (being the son of Xavier at that)

Just reboot the franchise with Deadpool and have the other films follow along in a more upgraded universe. They might be looking at a 3rd reboot in the future because most of their continuity that they're crafting now will easily catch up with them very soon where most of the main cast will be too old realistically and movieverse wise to continue their roles. They unknowingly just backed themselves into a corner.

Where does the film rank on your list of most anticipated 2016 comic book movies?

1. Civil War/Doctor Strange
2. Suicide Squad/Deadpool
3. Dawn of Justice/Apocalypse
TheFox
TheFox - 1/16/2016, 12:51 PM
Oh, and if I HAD to rank the movies coming out this year in terms of my anticipation... well, that'd be pretty frickin' hard, 'cause I'm looking forward to ALL of them to a ridiculous degree (and some for VASTLY different reasons than others-- Civil War I want to see because I think it will be amazing, while Batman v. Superman I want to see because I'm fervently HOPING AND PRAYING it will be amazing).

But if I HAD to...

1.) X-Men Apocalypse
2.) Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (TIE)
2.) Captain America: Civil War (TIE)
4.) Deadpool
5.) Suicide Squad
6.) Dr. Strange (and this one's only so low because we've seen practically nothing from it.)

For next year, my anticipation is skewed pretty heavily towards Wonder Woman and Spider-Man, so seeing them both pop up in minor roles this year has me pumped!

But the fact is, of all the superhero movies hitting the screen this year, the only one that I'm really, desperately anxious to see is X-Men Apocalypse. The last two X-Men movies were SO GOOD, and if this one can pull off the hat trick, then we'll finally have a rock-solid X-Men trilogy on our hands (to make up for the one Brett Ratner f%$#ed up back in 2006). And Apocalypse himself has me REALLY intrigued... I love his characterization, his look, and the fact that they got a really amazing actor to play the part.

This year is going to be wall-to-wall awesomeness, and I can't WAIT for it to get started!

@HeavensWarrior "You know what? I don't care. I'm done supporting Fox's "Marvel" movies. After what they've done to the Fantastic Four, enough is enough"

goes out and watches Deadpool and X-men Apocalypse

Based on history Apocalypse of has the best chance of being the best CBM this year.

TheFox - 1/16/2016, 12:56 PM
One last note... (And this is just the stupidest thing, but it's true):

Suicide Squad would probably rank a lot higher on my anticipation index if Harley Quinn was wearing ANYTHING resembling her classic costume. I f%$#ing HATE "slutty Harley", and I hate the Arkham games for popularizing that look.

My most anticipated:

1. BvS
2. Apocalypse
3. Suicide Squad
4. Civil War
5. Dr. Strange
6. Deadpool

Most likely to rank highly on RT:

1. Apocalypse
2. Civil War
3. Dr. Strange
4. Suicide Squad
5. BvS
6. Deadpool

/btw, in that opening shot of the Apocalypse trailer, that's actually Jean Grey entering Cerebro and not Apocalypse. Singer wouldn't tell us what she was doing in there but it's a pretty big secret.

Kinberg on F4 right before it came out:

“I am proud of it,” he says. “It’s not a disaster. It’s a good movie. I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt. I think the tone is very tricky it. It’s deceptively simple. Figuring out the comedy and the drama and the powers themselves are hard to fit into a tone that is as grounded as we wanted to make it. But I’m happy with the way that it turned out. I really love this cast, and I want to keep making movies with them.”

Sooo...in other words....STFU, Simon!

And Gambit ain't comin' out anytime soon, so scratch that off your lists.

I get how this will be the "biggest" X-movie to date in terms of what's happening storywise, but I'm not sure if it can actually be bigger than DOFP, which was probably as close to an event movie ala Avengers or BvS as this X-universe could get with the old and new cast combined.

We'll see! :)
