The sixth annual Scream Awards will be taped Oct. 15 and then air as a two-hour show on Spike on Oct. 18. Leading the way for CBMs in Mathew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class with 14 nominations. Captain America: The First Avenger picked up 11, Thor nine

Then on the tv side we have HBO's True Blood with seven, Game of Thrones seven and AMC’s The Walking Dead with six.

In the comic book category the nominees for best writer are Ed Brubaker, Joe Hill, Robert Kirkman, Grant Morrison and Mike Mignola. Best artist — Charlie Adlard, Mark Buckingham, Duncan Fegredo, John Romita Jr. and Berni Wrightson. While the nominees for best comic book or graphic novel favors horror and fantasy over super hero related stories. American Vampire, Chew, Day Tripper, Locke & Key and The Walking Dead get the nods.

The biggest category and award of the night will be the "Best Scream", which combines tv and film for one big trophy derby. For that one we have Black Swan, Captain America: The First Avenger, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Super 8, Thor, True Blood, The Walking Dead and X-Men: First Class.

Some fantastic movies and tv shows in the running. In fact there isn't one nominee that I don't like. Which ones do you hope pick up the gongs? You lucky gits will be able to pick up the awesome X-Men: First Class this Friday on DVD and Blu-ray.

Honestly, going back a year, who thought that and X-men prequel starring mostly teenagers and produced by Fox, would turn out better than any other CBM this year?

Say what you will about the phucking with the continuity, First Class WAS the best made summer movie this year (and I'm not taking anything away from Cap or Thor when I say that)

@WellDrawn Yeah I agree X men was the shit. And I was one of those people bashing it. That really goes to show you cant judge a book by its cover.

@BmanHall You're not alone. I thought that it was very blah. I’m completely baffled at some of the praise people give this film on this site.

Damn!? I didnt know Fassbender was in 300 and IB. Wow, he is a truly talented actor. I hope he gets a prize :D

Ps. He was in a really horrible movie called Eden Lake. Uhhh, they did really horrible things to his charactar but it was a great movie. See it if you dare :)

@BmanHall

I agree with you, it was blah. The true xmen fans know that it is it horrible, and the fact that they butchered the material.

and for those that are saying it was the best film and what not it wasn't to me the best film was Rise of The Planet of The Apes.

The Scream Awards must be biased against DC for not including Green Lantern;)

I could be wrong but I think that a lot of the hype comes from the studio that produced X-Men. They have much deeper pockets than Marvel Studios for such things as buying nominations for movies, and paying critics for glowing reviews, so I have a feeling with 14 nominations that’s the case here. It’s a pretty common practice for bigger studios to do that because it’s a great way to pump up their DVD sales. Like I said I could be wrong, it’s just a hunch.

I find it funny that Green Lantern won "Most Anticipated" at least year's awards and it wasn't even close to any of the other films in terms of quality. Another thing too is that "X-Men: First Class" was probably one of the least anticipated films, but was one of the best films of the summer.
flames809
flames809 - 9/8/2011, 2:36 PM
@pony no they don't. stop hating on it cause is actually nominated which is deserves it. And you cant pay a critic to do good reviews for you so then that means i can say cap and Thor good reviews was paid, and even the people who saw said it was really good. And you cant buy nominations so then that means in every Oscar all the studios buy nomination for there movie, even short films. And also x-men first class had a better story than thor and captain America in my opinion with cap coming in second.

Luis75@ who is overrated cause fans are tlking about the movie a lot? saying its realling good and the best cbm of 2011? thats why is overrated/ just how like batman became overrated when it made the more money of all cbm? wow i see now how a the ppl don't like and gets more tlk about to ya its overrated. and when it gets more talked about than thor or cap. so [frick] you and your [frick]ing overrated shit.
