The sixth annual Scream Awards will be taped Oct. 15 and then air as a two-hour show on Spike on Oct. 18. Leading the way for CBMs in Mathew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class with 14 nominations. Captain America: The First Avenger picked up 11, Thor nine

Then on the tv side we have HBO's True Blood with seven, Game of Thrones seven and AMC’s The Walking Dead with six.

In the comic book category the nominees for best writer are Ed Brubaker, Joe Hill, Robert Kirkman, Grant Morrison and Mike Mignola. Best artist — Charlie Adlard, Mark Buckingham, Duncan Fegredo, John Romita Jr. and Berni Wrightson. While the nominees for best comic book or graphic novel favors horror and fantasy over super hero related stories. American Vampire, Chew, Day Tripper, Locke & Key and The Walking Dead get the nods.

The biggest category and award of the night will be the "Best Scream", which combines tv and film for one big trophy derby. For that one we have Black Swan, Captain America: The First Avenger, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Super 8, Thor, True Blood, The Walking Dead and X-Men: First Class.

Some fantastic movies and tv shows in the running. In fact there isn't one nominee that I don't like. Which ones do you hope pick up the gongs? You lucky gits will be able to pick up the awesome X-Men: First Class this Friday on DVD and Blu-ray.
