Bryan Singer Will Indeed Helm X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
Revealing that the new film will focus on the X-Men: First Class cast, a new report has emerged confirming the return of Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer for X-Men: Apocalypse. Check it out!
After he debuted the X-Men franchise in 2000 and followed up with its 2003 sequel, Bryan Singer is of course returning to the director's chair for next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. And while Singer made the big announcement last week that an X-Men: Apocalypse is coming in May of 2016, his concise Twitter post failed to mention if he'd be behind the camera again or just serving as a producer, which he's done for X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class. Well, according to Vulture's reliable sources, Bryan Singer will indeed direct Apocalypse, which will be the fifth X-Men installment and a “direct sequel set up” in the closing moment of Days of Future Past. Also, while the 2014 movie mixes the franchise's original actors with the First Class gang, the 2016 sequel is “intended to focus strictly on the younger James McAvoy-Michael Fassbender cast.”
This news seems a little inconsistent with X-Men: Apocalypse rumors that cropped up over the weekend which suggested that the new film would include mutants from both the past and present timelines. But even with Apocalypse focusing “strictly” on the X-Men: First Class incarnation of the characters, appearances by some of the original or “present-time” actors shouldn't exactly be ruled out; especially since we don't know all of what happens in Days of Future Past. What do you think?
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past -- to save our future. X-Men: Days of Future Past has wrapped filming, and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender,, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing, Anna Paquin, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page & Booboo Stewart. Bryan Singer directs the film in theaters May 23, 2014!
