Nicholas Hoult Says Olivia Munn Went "Level-Seven Ninja" While Filming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

It seems as though Olivia Munn was a bit too much for Nicholas Hoult to handle! During the filming of X-Men: Apocalypse's final battle scene, Hoult says that Munn went "level-seven ninja" during their individual battle.

If you haven't seen X-Men: Apocalypse, SPOILERS AHEAD!

We've all seen various videos of Olivia Munn's intense training for X-Men: Apocalypse. And while we knew that Munn was highly skilled, fellow co-star Nicholas Hoult failed to do his research! If you saw X-Men: Apocalypse, you'd know that during the final battle scene, Psylocke shared an epic battle with Beast. Munn, while talking with Entertainment Weekly, revealed that she that saw the importance of the scene, and knew she had to deliver. “I knew it was up to me to be able to deliver. So thankfully my fight scene was the last thing we shot. So when I wasn’t on set shooting, I was able to go and train. The producers and [director] Bryan [Singer] and everyone was so supportive. I started training six to seven hours a day from stunts to wire work and martial arts and swords. One thing you can’t cheat is sword work." She then continued, "The more I can do, the more I could learn, the more they had to use and the more options they had for Psylocke. I was lucky that by the time we got to shooting I had been training for so long so that anything they asked I was able to do for the most part."

Munn was ready to deliver, but for Hoult, it was quite the contrary. “Olivia went to like level-seven ninja,” Hoult joked. “And then I kind of rolled up on the day and I was totally under-prepared — I must admit on that. I was so lucky it wasn’t a fight for real or she would have definitely done me in.” I'm sure Hoult will be better prepared if he and Munn had to film a battle scene in the future. Even so, I'm sure it's something he wouldn't be looking forward to.

Later in the interview, Munn further discussed the scene, and talked about the challenges she faced while filming it. In particularly, the part where she had to flip in the air and slice a car in half. “We were literally pushing into overtime. It’s one of those things where I know no one is gonna approve another couple hundred thousand dollars to go an extra day for me. It’s literally the last hour. I had to get on top of this really high platform and jump off, flip and land on a dime with swords and make sure I don’t face plant into the camera. And we had 30 minutes. That was a scary but very satisfying finish.” Satisfying indeed. What did you think about Beast and Psylocke's fight scene? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

As well as returning cast members Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. The movie is now playing in theaters.
