Simon Kinberg Dishes On X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, Confirms New Actors For Cyclops & More

Simon Kinberg, writer of this year's X-Men: Days of Future Past and its 2016 sequel, has offered some clarity on the cast we'll be seeing in Bryan Singer's Apocalypse, explaining the focus will be on the First Class crew and younger versions of the 'future' mutants.

X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg has cleared up any potential confusion on Apocalypse, the next instalment of the franchie, to Yahoo Movies! Though this year's X-film combined the casts of the original trilogy and the First Class crew, the sequel will mostly focus on the mutants in the 1980's  -- Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult). "In Apocalypse, it will really to be the continuation of the 'past' of Days of Future Past," Kinberg confirms. Yahoo! News suggests we won't be seeing more of the 'future' X-Men for the time being, so it would seem we aren't revisiting Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Iceman etc. Recent plot details on the film revealed that we would be seeing younger incarnations of Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey team up with the X-Men of the 80's, meaning that the roles would need to be recast. "It'd be very hard to do, because Halle [Berry], Famke [Jannsen], and Jimmy [Marsden] and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life," says Kinberg, before adding, "But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart." Are you looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse

I can't wait! Hopefully this film will be even better than Days of Future Past, I really hope these younger incarnations take inspiration from the All New X-Men characters

Recasting Storm, Cyclops and Jean sounds like a good idea. Time for some new blood.

I hope who ever they get to be Storm this time is good. Plus gets to use her powers. It will be interesting to see if in the movie they finally set Cyclops up to be the leader of the X-Men. I know it's going to sound weird, but I'd prefer if Wolverine wasn't in the movie. This way other mutants get to shine. Plus this way you don't have a perverted Wolverine hitting on Jean. Because I don't want to see Wolverine being a man and Jean just being a teenager.

The real question is whether or not this has been posted before, and if not with staypuffed keep the article, or do the ComicBookMovie.com higher-ups have other plans for this story?

Batfleck - 2015 was the year with Age of Ultron and Dawn of Justice being the primary showings. But Dawn of Justice moved to 2016 and a batch of CBMs were also announced, so in terms of CBMs being released, 2016 just became THE year.

2015 is still a year to look forward to as it has tons of other movies being released. Such as Star Wars, Bond 24, Jurassic World, Age of Ultron, Mad Max and the 2nd part of Mocking Bird. Honestly, the next 2 years are going to fantastic!

Saoirse Ronan for Jean!

She was rumours for Sue Storm! So maybe she has a good enough relationship with Fox so that it could happen.

With as many amazing X-Men villains that Fox has access too, they've only used 5 different villains as primary antagonist and even in movies when Magneto isn't the primary antagonist he ends up stealing the show. That said, I hope they end up making a decent villain for once. McKellan and Fassbender are great actors but I've never felt that Magneto was all that menacing.

I want someone to tally up all the screen times for each character throughout the whole X-Men franchise. I think people would be shocked how much Wolverine, Mystique, Magneto and Xavier is on screen. I'm really getting tired of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. What's sad is that there are a lot of kids who have grown up thinking that's how Wolverine is supposed to be. Sad.

Does anybody think Kristen Connoly would make a good Jean Grey? She was in both Cabin in the Woods and House of Cards.

I'd rather another movie with the original cast. The ending of DOFP got me excited for that. I trust them to make an awesome movie though.
