Simon Kinberg Dishes On X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, Confirms New Actors For Cyclops & More
Simon Kinberg, writer of this year's X-Men: Days of Future Past and its 2016 sequel, has offered some clarity on the cast we'll be seeing in Bryan Singer's Apocalypse, explaining the focus will be on the First Class crew and younger versions of the 'future' mutants.
X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg has cleared up any potential confusion on Apocalypse, the next instalment of the franchie, to Yahoo Movies! Though this year's X-film combined the casts of the original trilogy and the First Class crew, the sequel will mostly focus on the mutants in the 1980's -- Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult). "In Apocalypse, it will really to be the continuation of the 'past' of Days of Future Past," Kinberg confirms. Yahoo! News suggests we won't be seeing more of the 'future' X-Men for the time being, so it would seem we aren't revisiting Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Iceman etc. Recent plot details on the film revealed that we would be seeing younger incarnations of Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey team up with the X-Men of the 80's, meaning that the roles would need to be recast. "It'd be very hard to do, because Halle [Berry], Famke [Jannsen], and Jimmy [Marsden] and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life," says Kinberg, before adding, "But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart."
