BOX OFFICE: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Exceeds Expectations With Amazing $111M Debut

The numbers are in for the four day Memorial Day weekend, and Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past has performed even better than expected at the North American box office with an incredible total of $111 million. Oh, and the "inbetweenquel" has also passed $300 million worldwide!

By JoshWilding - May 26, 2014 09:05 AM EST

Box Office Mojo adds that X-Men: Days of Future Past actually took $91.4 million for the three day weekend, and with $111 million domestically and an additional $191 million from overseas, that's a whopping $302 million after less than a week of release! That $91.4 million means it didn't top Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and comes just slightly shy of The Amazing Spider-Man 2's debut, but it's interesting to wonder just how much it would have taken across Friday, Saturday and Sunday had some not decided to wait until today to check it out. We'll obviously have some slightly more specific numbers for you later today or early tomorrow, but this is a great result for a damn good movie, wouldn't you agree? nice. deserves it. I like when great movies make that cash. It bugs me to all hell when bullshit like Avatar makes money. yeah sorry that movie is a visually stunning piece of Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves plot stealing story stealing hunk of doo doo.
Word of mouth will keep X-Men strong- I even have a feeling it can beat Maleficent this coming week.

Best movie of the year and 2nd best CBM of all time. Story telling is just to damn good. Action was great could've been better. But you can't rank this any where below 9/10 it's just that good. I need to see this again

@doubleD the sentinels were not suppose to be in the movie a lot. They were there for the perfect amount of time because they were suppose to represent how scary the future is. And they did just that, by killing all the Xmen in the future every time they encountered reinforced the gravity of the situation. Making the stakes high for Xavier in past to change it all so the mutants won't die. Besides how can you not complain about winter soldier who was merely a plot device in TWS? The sentinels aren't in the name of the movie unlike the winter soldier. So all in all the sentinels didn't need to be in the movie because the primary task at hand is to stop mystique from causing the rise of the sentinels.

@Might of Sentinel

I loved Cap 2. It stands now among my favorite movies:

-Ironman
-The Dark Knight
-Cap america The winter soldier
-Avengers
-Superman the movie
-Spiderman 2
-TASM 2

I have this feeling that GOTG is gonna be great and will have legs due to the good word of mouth.
And Sin city I hope is as good as the first one.
I think TMNT will be the least in terms of quality but I hope it turns out good
CaptainAmerica31
CaptainAmerica31 - 5/26/2014, 9:58 AM
@doubleD did you read my comment? Your complaint about the sentinels is invalidated because they aren't the villains of the film. They are plot devices used to showcase the gravity of the situation. Trask is the villain of this film and that makes mystique the villain cause she causes it all.
