ComingSoon.net's Ben Mortimer is reporting that Jason Flemyng is set to take on the role of Azazel in X-Men: First Class. Flemyng told the BFU movie Con crowd in London that his character would have a lot of make up and a post production tail much like Calibos whom he portrayed in Clash of the Titans.

For those unfamiliar with Azazel, he is from a race of ancient teleporting mutants. These mutants look like demons and can open portals into other dimensions. He also happens to be the father of Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner).

Flemying joins a cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender,Nicholas Hoult, Rosamund Pike, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Caleb Laundry Jones, Morgan Lily and Alice Eve. X-Men: First Class Will be directed by Matthew Vaughn and should hit theaters June 20011.

Nice find HAWKS! What an obscure character to include though...I'm not complaining that we're getting to see him but it makes it kind of hard to work out exactly what direction this movie is going in! Still, I have a lot more faith in Vaughn to deliver something Singer never did - an authentic comic book movie! :P

Josh@ i dout we will see an authentic storyline faithful 2 the comics....character wise tho...i have my hopes!
hopefully sumbuddy soon will post an article of the cat/character round up with pics of the actor and who they r portraying...im getting lost in the mix :)

The rights to the characters that is.

I'm not sure exactly how the rights issue works, but from what I gather, if they haven't used and don't use a character by 2012 (iirc) the rights to those characters will revert to Marvel.

So, between this movie and any spin-offs (such as Wolverine and maybe Deadpool) between now and then, expect to see lots of characters we haven't seen before (as well as a few that we have of course), even if only briefly in a cameo or non-speaking role.

XmutantX: Oh yeah, I've pretty much given up all hope of seeing the original five in a storyline close to the original comics simply because of the bits of story and casting info we've heard so far! However, I do think we'll at least get something a lit closer to the source material when it cones to the look and feel of the characters etc!

and whoever said this movie was gonna be takin place in the 60's and only the 60's?..i hav a feelin this movie will time jump as the movie progresses...this sh!t isnt that hard 2 figure out here guys...God gave u brains...try 2 use them and fill in the blanks :)

fox needs to actually read some f*cking x-men comics.

if they are going to fill this movie with mutants,maybe featuring a classroom scene.

the originals have got to be in it,this is how he finds the pupils to form his first x-men team.

this movie is getting worse & worse by the day.

all i want is a f*cking decent x-men movie,is that to much to ask.

Either Mathew Vaughn and company have a method to their madness or they dont know what their doing; im going to go with the former.

I haven't seen anything horrible of wrong with the casting, albeit im confused, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt cus i dont know anything about the movie!!

We all know nothing concrete about the plot and their still in the CASTING STAGE!!

To early to tell if a film is going to be good or not so, we'll see....

@Integrity Why would you throw in wolverine at #3??!! He hasn't even been mentioned anywhere to appear in this movie, let alone be one of the prominent members. And you skipped Beast for some reason....

Plus how do you know Magneto and Mystique are going to be in the Hellfire Club, do you have inside info that we all dont have??? Doubt that. Even tho there is a possibility of that happening...nothing has even hinted to that so...

I've come to the conclusion that I have absolutely no idea what is going on with this movie. Therefore I don't even think I can speculate on whether or not it's going to be any good. It looks like a mess but there really is no way to tell.

didn't it get reported on this site you will see a young lad go from human looking to beast form in first class.

also emma frost,young girl in wolverine movie.

gets involved in a love triangle with professor x & magneto in first class.

this movie gonna be awesome. :(

@Integrity Yea i missed the whole Beast #2 thing, my bad Lmaooo, but still it doesnt mean Lautner is going to play wolverine, which makes no sense cus Logan doesnt age apparently and to have another younger actor play him when they had the whole montage of him staying the same physically in Origins would be RIDICULOUSLY STUPID ON FOX'S PART!!!!

Lauter IS NOT PLAYING WOLVERINE. There was some interest in him for the part but he wasn't interested. This does lead me to beleive that Wolvie will be in the movie somehow.

Maybe Prof. X takes the Adamantium bullet out of his skull and then everyone forgets that they know each other so they can meet all over again in X-Men.

dellamorte: If you are going to even try and make sense of this mess there is one little tidbit you should remember. It has been reported that the names of the characters these actors are portraying may ( or may not be ) the actual names of the characters that are actually in the movie. The studio and Vaughn wanted to keep them as surprises for the actual film.

So some of these names that sound so out of place may actually be a character that fits the story perfectly. The story I might add, that no one knows.

deadpool@ haha oh man i 4got about that cameo!..ur right on the money :) luckily its fox and it dosnt hav make sense haha..hopefully it is a good stand alone movie at the least.

Integ@ ever care 2 ponder on the thought that they havnt released all the characters casted..maybe it will officially be announced down the road...cyclops will be in this movie!..thinkin otherwise is jus foolish :)
