Late last night, El Mayimbe of
Latino Review posted his latest scoop which stated Matt Damon was going to play Jason Bourne once more. That would explain the why the next Bourne film was pushed back August 14, 2015 to July 15, 2016.
Fast & Furious director, Justin Lin, would still be directing the film, but how Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross fit into the picture wasn't clear. El Mayimbe cautioned that Paramount and producer Frank Marshall would quickly try to debunk his story, and here's their first attempt.
"It's simply not true," Marshall tells THR, adding that the film will feature the Aaron Cross character played by Jeremy Renner in the 2012 installment, The Bourne Legacy. "[Director] Justin Lin is working with Andrew Baldwin on an Aaron Cross script/story that they pitched us a few months ago. I talk to Justin all the time and the script is not ready. It's a summer movie, and if we don't start pre-production now, we can't make next summer. Therefore, it's a wise decision to move to 2016."

The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.
