The impressive cast of Universal's upcoming Bourne sequel, which features the return of the director/star duo of Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum) & Matt Damon (The Martian) and is currently shooting in Budapest, has added Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler) in a key role. Plot details remain scarce, but Variety has learned that he will portray a CIA tech specialist. They also add that Ahmed was always the studio's top choice, but scheduling conflicts with Star Wars: Rogue One, which have now been cleared up, held back the official confirmation of his casting until today.

What do you guys think of this Ahmed's addition? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Global superstar Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role as Jason Bourne in the fifth installment of Universal Pictures’ Bourne franchise. Acclaimed director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Captain Phillips) also returns for this much-anticipated chapter, and Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon and Gregory Goodman also produce. The action-thriller is written by Greengrass, Damon and Christopher Rouse. Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones join Damon for the action-thriller.

Bourne 5 will feature:
Director: Paul Greengrass
Matt Damon as Jason Bourne
Julia Stiles as Nicky Parsons
Tommy Lee Jones in an undisclosed role
Alicia Vikander in an undisclosed role
Vincent Cassel in an undisclosed role
Ato Essandoh in an undisclosed role
Scott Shepherd in an undisclosed role
Riz Ahmed in an undisclosed role

Nice. He was great in Nightcrawler

GLOBAL SUPERSTAR MATT DAMON???

Damon is a star, but...global...
His highest grossing film ever, that he lead, is $442,000,000 (The Bourne Ultimatum). Great, but not amazing. The “Bourne” and “Ocean’s” franchises were great while they lasted, but Damon couldn’t sell audiences on “Hereafter,” “The Adjustment Bureau,” “We Bought a Zoo,” “Promised Land” or “Elysium". "The Martian" is doing great, but its a rarity in his box office history. He's not a consistent box office attraction.

Loved this guy in Nightcrawler. He went out bad though.

God, Nightcrawler is such an amazing movie

When is Jake finally going to take on a CBM role and own it

@DrKinsolving

He's an amazing Hollywood talent, but I wouldn't call him a global superstar like RDJ, Tom Cruise or Harrison Ford even. I was never a fan of Good Will Hunting. I like him more as an actor than a writer.

Gyllenhaal as the Joker would've been a revelation. Imagine that. He needs a CBM role

Matt Damon

"He is among Forbes magazine's most bankable stars[3] and one of the top-40 highest-grossing actors of all time.[4][nb 1] In addition to the many awards Damon has received, including Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007 for his work in the film industry.

Damon has become known for his versatility,[6] starring in commercially and critically successful films such as the rogue secret agent Jason Bourne in the Bourne series, the youthful thief Linus Caldwell in the Ocean's Trilogy, the anti-hero in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), a fallen angel in Dogma (1999),[7] a soldier stranded in France in Saving Private Ryan (1998) and an astronaut stranded on an alien planet in The Martian (2015). He won further critical acclaim for his performances in dramas such as Syriana (2005) and The Good Shepherd (2006), as well as for his role as a villain in the neo-noir crime drama The Departed (2006).

Damon has also performed voice-over work and established several production companies. Damon has been actively involved in charitable work, including the ONE Campaign, H2O Africa Foundation, Feeding America, and Water.org. With his wife, Luciana Bozán Barroso, Damon has three daughters and a stepdaughter from Barroso's prior marriage."

^ Sorry man, I have to disagree with you

And, I just feel like posting another Nightcrawler gif because I love that movie

I want to see Christian and Jake together acting like sociopaths in a movie, it would be glorious and disturbing and probably win Oscars

Yeah, exactly!

I love that stuff, and Christian and Jake are both amazing actors and have such presence, I think it would be really amazing to see them playing those roles together on screen.

You could put both of them in any situation and I think I'd be more than entertained

My TD Season 3 perfect duo would be: Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale. Imagine that! Bale was being courted for Season 2. Hope that doesn't mean that he'll turn down another season.

Good Ol' Riz! He was amazing in NightCrawler and Four Lion's. The guy's got tallent and he'll kick ASS in this role.

On a completely different note, just noticed when you sign up CBM.com claims it can 'prosecute' spammers. LOL! Sorry, that's so f*cking wrong it's borderline trolling!

Honestly, as annoying as spammers are (*cough* DEXTER *cough*) there's nothing you can do about them except ban them. That's it. Good luck trying to send an anonymous guy on the internet, who could be residing anywhere in the world, to court for trolling a thread about comic books and movies.

@dethpillow

Definitely man, totally agree with what your saying.

And for Bale and Jake, having them on an equal "spectrum" like you were saying is what I want to see too, I feel like it would be fresh, even instead of good "sociopath" cop vs bad "sociopath" killer, they would be more equal

I would love to write something like that, or to see other writers tackle that because with those types of characters, the story would spontaneously write itself in a sense, just by putting them in different situations and environments

McConaughey is great, that first season of True Detective was awesome, I feel like Leto definitely fits into that category too.

Bale
Jake
McConaughey
Leto

That would probably be overload, haha, to have those 4 guys in the same movie, I can't imagine, I'd be open to it though

I think it would work well with 2 sociopaths, just to keep track of what was going on

Wow, that's awesome, I didn't even know that Bale was being courted for season 2, they definitely need to make that happen for season 3

I'm really excited to see what Leto does though, and Robbie too

That Joker/Harley relationship is amazing in the comics, I've wanted to see that on screen forever. Robbie is a great actress too from what I've seen

Really excited to see where they take that

This is one of the most thoughtful and intelligent threads I've read on CBM in WEEKS. Haha kudos, guys! I'm not surprised one bit by the users who are part of this thread, and I mean that fully as a compliment =)

Yeah rumor was that Bale and Jessica Chastain were both being courted!

The idea of Bale, Jake, McCounaghey, and Leto in the same movie gets me all warm inside. Dallas Buyer's Club only had McCounaghey and Leto and it was almost too much amazing acting.

Haha, nice, I would love to see Bale and Chastain on True Detective, and Fassbender, they need to get on that

@SauronsBANE

I'm flattered, Jake, Bale, McCounaghey, and Leto have also responded accordingly, their very happy, I think, it's really hard to tell what their thinking

A lot of people posting gifs of Jake and how he needs to take on a CBM role. Well they screwed up not casting him as Flash. But he would make a fantastic Green Lantern as well. Someone make it happen.
