The Daily Mail is reporting that 2x Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz will reprise his role as Spectre villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the upcoming Bond 25, which will mark the end of Daniel Craig's five-film run as 007.

Variety has since confirmed the report.

Waltz is the latest returning face from the previous Craig installments, joining Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine), Ben Whishaw (Q), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), and Jeffrey Wright (Felix). Newcomers to the franchise will include Academy Award-winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Dali Benssalah (Flash), and David Dencik (Quicksand).

Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing with a screenplay he wrote with contributions from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Production is currently underway in London with an April 8, 2020 release date already set.

Good news, I liked him in Spectre. Some fans believe he and Bond will have to team up to stop Rami Malek's villain.

That's great Christoph was awesome in the role, but got weighed down by a mediocre film. The cast, director and fact that this is Craigs last film as Bond has me pretty excited to see this, now all it needs is a cool title and for Radiohead to do the opening song and we'll be all set.

I really liked him in the role, his motivation and origin was completely bonkers, but he did well with the material. I'm glad he's back, at the end of Spectre it felt like he would return for another outing against Craig rather than being a one-off. So here's hoping for better material for Waltz to work with.

Despite its flaws, I think Spectre was a fun movie. I can see why Sam Mendes wanted to do that movie after Skyfall, particularly to tap into more Bond lore and also to tap into the Roger Moore style humor at moments. Either way, by the time they got to the 3rd act in London it just started to wain. The final act should have ended at Blofeld’s lair, following Bond’s torture scene. Also, Bautista’s Mr. Hinx needed one more scene as a proper henchman.
