The latest character poster released for Disney's The Lone Ranger gives us our very first look at William Fichtner's slightly Jonah Hex-ish looking outlaw Butch Cavendish. Check it out after the jump.

The poster comes with a brief character description: "Meet Butch Cavendish. A ruthless outlaw whose terribly scarred face is a perfect reflection of the bottomless pit that passes for his soul." So, I'm guessing he's a bad guy then?

The Lone Ranger, directed by Gore Verbinski and featuring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as John Reid, the Lone Ranger, is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.


The Lone Ranger is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and hits theaters May 31, 2013.

Why did they make him look like a cartoon character?

I WAS looking forward to this film, but it is clear that the producers are not taking The Lone Ranger character seriously. The trailers make me puke. Too much comedy and freedom with the character. I mean, since when does the Lone Ranger have a whip?

This movie is going to get BAD reviews.

Oh, and it's gonna suck the sweat off a dead mule's leg.
