With only two weeks to go, Walt Disney Studios and 20th Century Studios have released the first official clip from Ridley Scott's The Last Duel.

The clip showcases Marguerite de Thibouville (Jodie Comer) in a heated exchange with her husband Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) about the potential fallout of his most recent decision, which was to challenge his former best friend and squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) to a duel to the death in an effort to protect his wife's honor.

However, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, and here we see him slowly start to process what could potentially happen to his wife and child if he loses the duel.

The film is set in 14th-century France and tells the true story of Marguerite de Thibouville, who claims she has been raped by her husband's best friend and squire Jacques Le Gris. Her husband, the knight Jean de Carrouges, then challenges his friend to trial by combat. Their battle was the last legally sanctioned duel in the entire history of France.

The critically acclaimed drama stars Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason BourneThe Martian) as Jean de Carrouges, 2x Academy Award-nominee Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerLogan Lucky) as Jacques Le Gris, Primetime Emmy-nominee Jodie Comer (Killing Eve; Free Guy) as Marguerite de Carrouges, and 2x Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck (Zack Snyder's Justice LeagueThe Way Back) as Count Pierre d'Alençon.

In addition to starring, Damon and Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Academy Award-nominee Nicole Holofcener. The Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting duo penned the male perspectives while the Can You Ever Forgive Me? scribe penned the female perspective.

It's funny that they never try to make French accents for these movies.

When they actually try we have great material, like Pattinson in The King:

So I don't get why they hardly ever bother.
