...and that's a wrap on Mission: Impossible 7!

After eighteen months of shooting and multiple COVID-related production delays, director Christopher McQuarrie and his 3x Academy Award-nominated star Tom Cruise have finally announced the end of production on their highly-anticipated action sequel, which is due out in theaters September 30, 2022.

Considering the insane amount of preparation each film takes to realize, it seems very likely that the dynamic duo will soon be back to work on Mission: Impossible 8 - tentatively scheduled to begin principal photography at the end of this year - but for now, they've certainly earned themselves a bit of a vacation after over a year and a half of relentless work.

To recap the past eighteen months, Mission 7 initially began filming in February 2020 in Italy, but due to the initial COVID-19 outbreak, production was immediately halted, and after almost five months of uncertainty, filming was able to restart in early July 2020 in the United Kingdom, thanks in no small part to Cruise himself. The team moved to Norway in September 2020 to shoot the film's signature sequence - a motorcycle base jump - and continued there for a few weeks before moving back to Italy. However, they ran into trouble when production was forced to shut down again for a week after positive COVID cases on-set. They moved to London in December 2020 - where audio leaked of Cruise reprimanding two crew members for not adhering to safety protocols - and remained there through the start of 2021. In February, they spent some time in the Middle East, but wrapped there fairly quickly before returning to London for the film's final touches - dealing with one last hiatus - but also filming a fiery train crash and parachuting out of a helicopter

In addition to Cruise as the headliner, the highly anticipated McQ-directed action blockbuster will also see the return of Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Academy Award-nominee Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow, and Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge.

Newcomers to the franchise include the aforementioned Hayley Atwell (Avengers: EndgameCaptain America: The First Avenger) as Grace, Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Perry Mason; Marvel's Agent Carter), Esai Morales (TitansLa Bamba), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2Hobbs & Shaw), Charles Parnell (Top Gun: MaverickTransformers: Age of Extinction), Indira Varma (Game of ThronesCarnival Row), Mark Gatiss (The FatherThe Favourite), and Cary Elwes (The Princess BrideSaw).

Mission: Impossible 7 lights the fuse in theaters on September 30, 2022; followed by Mission: Impossible 8 on July 7, 2023.

At this rate we are never gonna get the Edge of Tomorrow sequel. By the time Tom Cruise done filming MI8, the untitled Space Movie and the untitled action movie, he will be in his late 60's. I was really looking forward to that movie.

Tom Cruise is the GOAT and I can’t wait to see this masterpiece. The M:I movies constantly get better than the last, it’s always a sure thing.
