OBI-WAN KENOBI Could Arrive On Disney+ Before ANDOR In Time For 2022's Star Wars Day

Obi-Wan Kenobi has finished shooting, but there's been no word on a premiere date. However, a new rumour suggests that the series could arrive on Disney+ in time for next year's "Star Wars Day" on May 4.

There's a lot of excitement surrounding the Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+, which is no great surprise when fans have been waiting to see this story told for a very long time. Originally planned as a movie, the show has been through a few different creative teams since then, but was ultimately helmed by The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow.

Now, insider Jordan Maison has taken to social media to tease the possibility that the highly anticipated six-part series will arrive on the streaming service in May of 2022.

That actually makes perfect sense, especially as May 4 (better known as "Star Wars Day") falls on a Wednesday. Wednesdays are the new Fridays on Disney+, and since that's the day TV shows land on the streamer, Obi-Wan Kenobi is a natural fit. As for Andor, Maison notes that everything he's heard points to the Rogue One: a Star Wars Story prequel being released after this show.

"The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat," reads the Obi-Wan Kenobi synopsis, "the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."

The Obi-Wan Kenobi cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
