MTV have an exclusive first look at the trailer for DC's animated adaptation of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's excellent 12-issue run..

James Denton(Desperate Housewives) will voice Supes, Christina Hendricks(Mad Men) Lois Lane, Anthony LaPaglia(Without A Trace, countless movies) will provide the voice for Lex Luthor.

"All-Star" is the 10th DC Comics story line to be turned into an original PG-13 movie by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video. The comic mini-series has won three Eisner Awards, two Harvey Awards and three Eagle Awards. Written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely, the story begins with the Man of Steel (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) an epiphany on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth for when he is gone. . . .

Bruce Timm is exec producing, and Sam Liu, who helmed the DC animated film "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths," is directing. Dwayne McDuffie, a comics scribe who also penned "Crisis on Two Earths," wrote the script.

The film is due to be released in the spring.

It looks pretty good...however, I'm not sure I'll bother checking it out as I was really unimpressed by Under The Red Hood and not a fan of animated movies in general! Still, if I can find it online for free, I'll definitely watch it! :P Great find ROR!

LEEE777 - 9/23/2010, 9:19 AM
DEADPOOL @ Hellz yeah, KINGDOM COME a must, awsome idea dude!!!

Would luv the original CRISIS saga told in animation but that would have to be a TRILOGY or animated movies to do it any justice!

Still don't reckon they'd ever be able to do that one even tho it involves the death of Barry Allen and Supergirl etc!

Just think thats ones wayyyyy to big for them to handle!

Damn, while we're waiting for a SANDMAN movie how about an animated movie of that too!

DC is aweseome animated, way better than anything Marvel has offered up animated. The problem is that DC ONLY works animated, because they make unrealistic characters that are impossible to relate to or care about so they don`t translate onto the big screen.

Dark Knight did ok, from what Im hearing.....
LobsterJohnston
LobsterJohnston - 9/23/2010, 9:27 AM
it was a dope movie, yeah, but nobody can really plug into those characters. It did well because the story and execution were killer, not because people could relate to the terrible Bale/Bruce Wayne.

They work way better animated because DC writing isn`t about good characters, its about crazy powers, thats all. Thats why DC characters are all the exact same people they`ve always been. They never evolve.

Lee, there was talk of one actually..but it was more wishlist stuff than anything they are really planning i'd say. They might have to rethink their pg13 rating for that one anyway!

All-Star Superman is one of my favourite ever Supes stories, but I have no idea how well it will translate over 70m minutes. Hopefully they keep all the important stuff. Voices..meh, not really feeling em from that clip.

ROR @ Oh cool!

Yeah your right, SANDMAN would have to be near the R-Rated end to be any good!

Damn, it would be awesome tho, why can't they do a VERTIGO range of animated's...it would sell big time, after all MANGA gets away with it!!!

Cheers man!

@BmacAttack - The animators were trying to copy Frank Quietly's artistic style.

Now that looks soo awesome!!! ^_^
They're really stepping up their game. The problem with these animated films for me has always been the pacing. It's just been rushed and terrible. Wonder Woman, Crisis and Red Hood seemed to be to be the only ones who haven't suffered from that so far.. I really hope this one is another quality one.
Though the date on the video said Winter 2011??? That just doesn't seem to make sense..
But I agree; we TOTALLY need Flash, Teen Titans or Green Arrow after this next little bunch. Please.
Or maybe they can just pour the resources and budget that it would take to make two or three and give us something really spectacular!
Overall I really enjoy these dtv films. =)

@Draximos

Hopefully if the DC showcase collection sells WB will see there is an audience for other characters the writer of Superman/Batman Apocalypse said he hoped for as much since there was a Green Arrow animated film script he wrote that was cancelled even Bruce Timm said they did the Showcase for him since he had a movie that was cancelled.

fanboiii - 9/23/2010, 11:06 AM
Batman and Superman sells and most of the movies have a ton of other characters. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse was more about Supergirl and had plenty of cameos. Besides, leechers shouldn't even be complaining.

@LobsterJohnston

They don't evolve? What you mean is they don't devolve. A lot of people do relate to DC's characters, so speak for yourself. I certainly don't relate with corporate douche Iron Man or rageaholic Bruce Banner or a god of thunder. Your insight into what works on the big screen makes no sense, especially if you look at the numbers. I don't get why some of you guys think Marvel is dominating so hard when the only movie they did really well was the first Iron Man.

WTF is this coming out in Winter 2011, I thought Spring 2011???

Damn! Im pretty excited! I loved that story. But they REALLY have to get that art style down better! That was one of the things that really made that story perfect was the the coloring and art style! Frank Quitely did a great job.
AngelAragiel
AngelAragiel - 9/23/2010, 11:29 AM
That looks so good. I don't think that the animation style looks to much like Frank Quitely drawings, but still, looks awesome.

Luthor again? NOoo. This is the worst villain that Supes have. WB should destroy this miserable weakling. Lets just stick to villains that Supes can punch.

Word to everything you said.

@fanboii

what numbers are you talking about? There aren`t even any other movies to compare it to because DC whored out all their properties to extinction in the 80s. I didn`t say Marvel was dominating, I just said that their characters make more sense for movies because DC`s characters are overpowered and souless and their villaisn are all 2nd rate hack jobs.

People who are "tired of" other peoples` opinions are just people who can`t bother thinking outside of their own ideas. An open message board is a bad place to be hanging out if you`re looking for people to echo only what you think. I DO speak for myself, and ONLY myself. Again this is the point of open opinion message boards.

Here is one of MY opinions; DC animated films are awesome, but its sad that the only other thing they have given their fans in the past 15 years is Smallville, which was incredible for 2 seasons and Dark Knight, which is good, but so mindlessly worshipped by people that people can`t enjoy it anymore without feeling like a bandwagon jumper a la Twilight or Justin Beiber. There it is. Dark Knight is the middle aged mom`s basement dweller`s equivalent of Twilight.
