BOX OFFICE: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Can't Slither Past 22 JUMP STREET

Aw poo, How to Drain Your Dragon 2 couldn't whizz past 22 Jump Street to number one, but it will be number two. Actually both sequels are outperforming their originals. 21 Jump Street in March of 2012 with $36.3M while its sequel expected to complete this weekend with $62M, while How to Train Your Dragon opened with $43.7M and its sequel is on pace for $52M. Not too shabby. Audiences seem quite pleased with both films as 22 Jump Street has earned an 'A-' Cinemascore and How to Train Your Dragon has received an 'A' Cinemascore.

In the world of films we at comicbookmovie.com actually care about, Godzilla could end up with the dubious distinction of being the first film to open with $90M or more in its first weekend and not reach $200M. Congrats? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has now been in theaters for seven weeks and still won't reach $200M. Better luck next week. On the otherhand, 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past will top the $200M mark in its fourth week. Woot, woot! Party at Bryan Singer's house! There will be no party for A-list Scientologist Tom Cruise this weekend. Edge of Tomorrow has been showered with praise from critics and moviegoers but the word-of-mouth just wasn't strong enough to lift the film from an underwhelming fifth ($16M) place finish. On a positive note: Edge of Tomorrow only dropped 46% in its second weekend while last week's box office champ, The Fault In Our Stars, had a cancerous drop of 61% with $18.5M.

It's been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk.
