Cartoon Network Pulls DC NATION from October Schedule

It seems the network has decided to celebrate its 20th birthday by kicking DC fans in the balls. Find out when Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Young Justice and more will return to TV after the jump...

With new episodes starting up a mere two weeks ago, Cartoon Network has suddenly pulled DC Nation from its scheduling until January of next year.

Giancarlo Volpe, a producer on Green Lantern: The Animated Series, had this to say on the subject:

“Apparently Cartoon Network preempted it in celebration of their 20th birthday. Their logic, not mine. I am very disappointed.”

Not surprisingly, the backlash has already begun, with criticism of the decision appearing on the DC Nation Facebook page (including one individual that responded to a poll asking fans to name their favorite supervillain with “Cartoon Network executives").

yossarian - I haven't figured out how to insert a poll into an actual article yet. I know how to make the article and the poll, but not how to put the poll in the article.

As a fan of Cartoon Network since the beginning, I hope they bring back some of their classic programming like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, etc.

Both are real I just finished watching them. Being from Ireland I didn't even know they hadn't aired yesterday.

I grew up on Cartoon Network (wasn't much of a Nickelodeon fan) and am glad to see them celebrating their 20th year. Like soberchimera61, I'm hoping they are using this opportunity to re-run their classic programming, maybe even show all the cool little Hanna Barbara shorts they used to do between commerical breaks. However, I don't see why they had to suspend this 1 hour block just to do so unless this 20th anniversary thing is excluding anything current or new.... something else is up I believe.

Don't be mad just w a commercial for this, the reason is that they want to show all their old original shows like dexter lab powerpuff girls JLU cow and chicken brak and so forth.
So it makes sence to celebrate your own company's annyversary,

Plus this gives DC Nation a chance to roll out more episodes.

cartoon network execs are dumb, dumb people.

they cancelled naruto.
it doesn't matter if you love it, or if you hate it with what i am trying to say. objectively speaking, it was a dumb move because naruto was one of their HIGHEST rated shows. it even massively boosted the ratings of shows right before and after it. everyone involved was making bucketloads of cash. for unknown reasons, cartoon network cancelled it. and now naruto has moved to disney xd and is making bucketloads of cash for them...

would any businessperson in their right mind cancel a cash cow? No.

ergo: cartoon network execs are objectively dumb people.

and it doesn't surprise me that they're pulling this shit now.

The reason makes no sense, given that it was replaced by Dragons episodes, not 20th anniversary stuff.

I think there's more going on with this. And with rumors that DC is having trouble with (or already lost) the Milestone characters, that explanation makes far more sense.

That blows a new one. They already messed with young justices schedule in the past and now the whole DC Nation block, come on, kids who watch won't understand what happened, they'll just think it was replaced or canceled. disappointed in the thinking process.

I have to say, my kids are going to be VERY disappointed. I'm not sure how Cartoon Network stays in the black. They make very disappointing programming decisions look routine.

It's really too bad.

This was not a wise choice for CN. To suspend some of the reasons that people watch their channel is pretty stupid. To the execs of the Cartoon Network:

You are nerds and fanboys creating programs in the service of nerds and fanboys! Now, you remove programming that keeps you relevant to celebrate a 20 year anniversary?!? You expect to balance the ink on your hands by pulling the current ink that the fans demand?!? That is pathetic! This child's prayer!! I promise that the fans will villify you and insult you for the duration of this programming absence and will continue to do so until the shows are returned (and probably for a while after). Then I will allow them a moment to see their good work, before I allow them to return to their vegetative state of watching the shows and eating their hot pockets! This is my bargain, you mewling quim!

This is not spam, I repeat: This is not spam.

I actually was just able to watch the new GL "Steam Lanter" and the new Young Justice on watch-cartoons-online

If you google "watch cartoons online" and go to their website they have all episodes of all modern cartoons. Been using it for a few months now.

you're welcome.
