Don't Hold Your Breath For Marvel Superheros In The LEGO MOVIE Sequel

Don't Hold Your Breath For Marvel Superheros In The LEGO MOVIE Sequel

We'd all love it of course, and it sounds like directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would love it too, but while chatting to Coming Soon the duo don't sound too hopeful about it. Still, there's a "maybe" in there! Take a look at the video interview after the jump.

It would almost certainly be our only chance to see Marvel and DC comic characters on the big screen together, but alas it sounds like it's just not to be. Here's what the directors of the first LEGO Movies (though they are only on board as producers on the planned sequel_ had to say to Coming Soon about it.

If Disney and WB could work together for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I don't see why they couldn't work together in The Lego Movie.

Would be cool.........but WB will only promote their own brand.

This movie was exceptional. Never would've thought I'd be saying that about a Lego movie.

Brainiac13 - True, but if they do include Marvel characters in the movie, the lack of promotion they get could lead to a surprise cameo. I'd rather be surprised by their appearence than know that they'll appear in the movie 12 months ahead of the movies release.

Marvel/DC crossover? Maybe we can finally get that Superman vs Hulk showdown.

Well it is a Warner Brothers production!
But in saying that, WB would be the company to allow some sort of Marvel participation in there... Haha. Lego movie was fun and a lot better than expected. Who cares about DC vs Marvel! Even though DC makes better movies consistently. Instead of Marvels kiddie friendly jokefest. Whoops did I say that...

Well WB Games held the rights for the Lego Marvel game, so maybe they could hypothetically use the Marvel properties for the movie with the right permissions. But then again I have almost no understanding of the business/legal side of movie production.
In my mind, this is how it all goes down.

So you mean to tell me that MARVEL characters won't be in a film that has major ties to DC properties?

No fooling...

"Marvel and Disney to work together and put together another universe in animation. It would crap on Warner Bros. animation."

The only movie pixar has that's better than the lego movie is Toy story 1.

Well it seems that they are totally allowed to use Disney characters since there were Star Wars characters in the Lego Movie.

Shocked how good this movie was.

Lego Marvel & DC?
If they maintain the Quality of the 1st, with the right scheduling your looking at a mega-blockbuster that would be #1 for at least 3 weeks.

We might see this:

As a trilogy, co-directed by Snyder and Whedon.

Just... y'know? That. That.

I rather just keep playing the lego games LOL, the lego batman film was good but if they start involving heroes too much it will lose a little sense
