Imagi releases a new trailer for its CG-animated Gatchaman (known in the U.S. as G-Force or Battle of the Planets) feature!

Apparently, news of the demise of Imagi's planned Gatchaman (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman or Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman in Japanese) CG-animated feature, first teased at the 2009 Anime Expo was not altogether accurate as a new trailer has been released for the movie.

Synopsis

Featuring stealthy ninja-style shadow fighting to grand-scale clashes, this fast-paced sci-fi action-thriller focuses on a lone-wolf maverick youth who, together with a team of teenage superheroes, finds his destiny in defending Earth against the dark forces of Galactor.

I'm not very impressed by the animation in this trailer.

Didn't they make a movie called G-Force with guinea pigs? Anyways, the animation doesn't look too bad. It could be entertaining.

After I saw this on CBM (great find) I went to looking to favorite it... and as it happens I found this OTHER trailer. Maybe this was old news, but I thought I would share.

I used to love battle Of The Planets when I was a kid, we even had toffee bars of it at out shop! Was a big hit here for a while. But I haven't seen it since I was about 9. And watching this trailer makes me think I might have outgrown it! Astro Boy 2 by the looks of it.

Some of you guys are crazy. That was a great piece of animation, comparable to "Shrek" in quality (which won an Oscar for best animated feature in 2002).

Long time lurker, first time poster. I was going to also add that Tatsunoko vs Capcom could help some be interested or excited about this who are too young or never watched Battle of the Planets!

This trailer looked VERY cool. Can't wait to watch this. I loved that high-five they gave to each other at 0:44, it shows the aspect of friendship they all have with one another.

Never saw the original anime...Don't really care for the animation. The Incredibles looks far superior to this!

dnn1: I agree with you this animation looked GREAT!!! I wish they'd do the marvel and dc cartoons the same way.
I wouldnt want to see it at the theater ,but my 9yr.old
loved it...so Im sure I'll be going when it comes out.

LAME!!! those graphics SUCK @SS!! ninja turtles had better than that!!! and that was like 2-3 years go? video games have better real time game play graphics than this crap!

Fond memories of Battle of the Planets. One of the shows that got me interested in anime as a kid back in the 70s.

@grif-Totally agreed. one of my friends had the battle of the planets season 1 and on it it had the Gatchaman episodes. I didn't realize how hard core the show was for its time. And the villians were really dark. I loved it as a kid and have hopes for a live action one soon.

battle of the planets what a classic anime i grew up watching in the 80s.

Not sure why everyone is shitting on the animation, it looks pretty good to me, for that type of flick anyway. At least THEY are wearing helmets.
