Popeye the Sailorman, who made his debut in Thimble Theatre strip in 1929, has appeared in comic books, films and television cartoons. The character will next be seen in the upcoming feature film from Sony Pictures Animation, and thanks to Box Office Mojo, we now know the release date:


Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Samurai Jack and director of Hotel Transylvania) is set to helm this project. It has also been revealed that Jay Scherick and David Ronn will write the film. Popeye will be released in 3D, on September 26th, 2014.
