With a little over a month to go, Warner Bros. has released a brand new trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, which sees the Tune Squad team-up with 4x NBA Champion and current Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James to take on a dangerous new AI villain (Don Cheadle) to rescue James' son (Ceyair J. Wright) while also saving themselves from possible deletion.
Along with the official trailer, the studio has also shared a number of new promotional stills as well as a new theatrical one-sheet, featuring the stars of the film and their new high-flying, six-foot-nine, 250-pound teammate.
In addition to James, the human supporting cast will consist of Academy Award-nominee Don Cheadle (Avengers: Endgame) as Al-G, Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) as Kamiyah James, Ceyair J. Wright (American Skin) as Darius James, Cedric Joe as Dom James, and Harper Leigh Alexander as Xosha James.
The voice cast is toplined by Looney Tunes Cartoons stars Jeff Bergman and Eric Bauza voicing Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, respectively, with Primetime Emmy-winner Zendaya (Spider-Man: No Way Home) voicing Lola Bunny, Bob Bergen voicing Porky Pig/Tweety, Jim Cummings voicing Tasmanian Devil, Gabriel Iglesias voicing Speedy Gonzales, and Candi Milo voicing Granny. Bergman and Bauza will also voice additional roles.
Meanwhile, the villainous basketball team known as the Goon Squad will be voiced by Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson as Wet-Fire, Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis as The Brow, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard as Chronos, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi as White Mamba, and Los Angeles Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike as Arachnneka.
Fellow NBA and WNBA superstars, including Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma, and Los Angeles Sparks forward Chiney Ogwumike, are all expected to make cameo appearances.
The legendary Michael Jordan, who starred in the original film and is widely regarded the greatest basketball player of all-time, will also appear in some capacity, "but not in the way you would expect it."
Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) is directing while Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) is producing the upcoming sequel.
Space Jam: A New Legacy bounces into theaters and on HBO Max on July 16.
