ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Won't Include David Dastmalchian's Kurt

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is shaping up to be a huge movie, but fans of David Dastmalchian's Kurt are likely to be disappointed by the news that the character won't return in the threequel...

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania looks set to be a little grander in scale than its predecessors, with Scott Lang, Hope Van Dyne, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne set to square off with Kang the Conqueror. The franchise has always been something of a fun diversion from whatever's happening in the main MCU, but this next chapter looks likely to have major consequences for Phase 4 and beyond.

As a result, it seems some of the franchise's comedic relief is being left out of the threequel.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant at the Moon Knight premiere, The Suicide Squad and Dune star David Dastmalchian confirmed that he has not been asked to reprise the role of Scott's friend Kurt in the movie. With T.I. not asked to return, Luis is currently the last pal standing.

"It doesn't look like it," the actor said of a possible return. "But that's okay. I know they're making something incredible. I can't wait to see what Peyton does next. He's one of my favorite directors. He's been so busy. I have tried to stay in touch, but he's making an incredible film right now."

Dastmalchian clearly isn't on bad terms with Marvel Studios because he was at the Moon Knight premiere, and it's easy enough to understand why there's no room for Kurt in the movie. While he's always been an enjoyable, funny character to spend time with, what he can bring to the table in a movie with Kang taking aim at the size-changing superhero is obviously up for debate.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
