ANT-MAN 3 Writer Says Popular Ending Fan-Theory Is "Not Too Far Off" - SPOILERS

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness has weighed in on the movie's ending, confirming that a popular fan-theory is actually "not too far off." Spoilers ahead...

If you haven't seen Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania yet, major spoilers ahead.

At the end of Marvel Studios' first Phase 5 movie, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne manage to defeat Kang and escape the Quantum Realm. Our heroes then return to their everyday lives, but thing seem just a little... off.

Nothing stands out too much, but even the minor changes (Lang being charged 12 bucks for his coffee, etc) have led to speculation that Scott and his family may have accidentally emerged from the Quantum Realm into an alternate Multiverse timeline.

During an interview with the Phase Zero podcast, writer Jeff Loveness addressed this theory, and it sounds like there may actually be something to it.

"I think it's very interesting. I can't say much. It actually is not too far off from some possibilities, but I can't say anything," Loveness offered. "For now, the only important thing to say is that the multiverse is limitless and Scott Lang was the man who saved the universe in [Avengers: Endgame] and now he may be the person who accidentally f-cked up the multiverse for everybody."

"So far, things are good," he continued. "He's back to the life that he thinks he has and loves, but he doesn't have the [assurance] that he did in the top of the movie. That Rocky III swagger is gone and, suddenly, the most carefree, luckiest guy in the MCU has a huge shadow hanging over him and he doesn't know what to do about it. That felt like an interesting tonal shift for Scott Lang and we'll see where that goes forward. But, who knows, man?"

Loveness is referring to Scott's realization that Kang may have been telling the truth after all, and that taking him out of the equation could have dire consequences for the entire Multiverse.

What do you guys think? Did Lang and his allies enter into another reality at the end of Quantumania, or were those differences simply supposed to represent Scott's altered view of the world after his encounter with Kang?

Would be wild if everything was mostly the same but then he slowly starts to realise that certain things are different. Then when he figures it out and returns to 616, Kang has already taken over and he has to find other Avengers and remind/recruit them to change things back.

@IronDean2099 - I could actually see this happening.

@CorndogBurglar - maybe it's something that happens at the end of Kang Dynasty as a cliffhanger for Secret Wars. Or maybe even different scenes in Kang Dynasty are taking place in different realities and it's not revealed to the audience until part way through the movie.

@CorndogBurglar -
Would just be a repeat of the plot of She-Hulk, Loki S1 & Loki S2 though.

I can't help but feel like Loveness wants a mulligan on this movie. It's almost like every theory a reporter throws at him, makes him realize his version isn't as good as some of the theories.
