Edgar Wright Has Completed Work On A Test Reel For ANT-MAN

Edgar Wright's next project will be At World's End. However, the writer and director has spent a week of June hard at work on a test reel for Ant-Man, bringing the project closer to reality than ever before. Read on for details.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Edgar Wright has finished production on Ant-Man. Unfortunately, we're not talking about the film itself. Instead, the director has not only been hard at work perfecting his and Joe Cornish's script, but he's also spent a week shooting a reel of footage which will be used to test out the look of the film and how the character's powers will be portrayed on the big screen. This is usually the case for certain films, and those of you who checked out 300's special features may remember Zack Snyder doing something very similar for that comic book adaptation. This may also explain why comic book stores in London have been finding themselves bombarded with requests for old Ant-Man back-issues (read about that HERE). Will the footage be shown at Comic-Con? Here's hoping...

I dont know much about the character. But from what I do know, Ant-Man sounds like one of the dumbest and silliest superheroes ever.

I never thought an Ant Man movie would be harder to make than an Avengers movie.

Not a DC phanatic by any means, or a Marvel hater

Saying that, I have to say, this is the only Mavel movie that truly gets me excited.

Wright is such a creative and skilled director that I am 100% sure that he will make this something special that will elevate it out of the "Plain Old Superhero Movie" standard that Marvel film studios currently holds.

Just can't get excited about this. Love Edgar Wright, but Antman couldn't be less interesting to me as a character.

Always have to invent some cheap plot device that requires pym to shrink down or cover someone with ants. Wasp is even worse, at least they could play up the giant man angle with pym's character.

I'll give it a try but I really hope they don't include antman/wasp in the avengers sequels. The cast is big enough, and I'd hate to see (imo) more interesting characters like black panther or ms marvel lose out to ANOTHER scientist and his vapid wife.

that giant doctor manhattan looked sick tearing up those vietcong in watchmen, so i dont doubt that antman as giant man will be just as crazy looking and intense.

Pym is one of the most compelling and complex characters in Marvel Comics history. Ant-Man is just the start--it gets you to Pym. And Pym is central to The Avengers.

not a fan of the character (only know him from the ultimate avengers movie and he was annoying in that) but at least they are handling the character the right way. perfect choice in director and keeping it out of continuity means they can play with the goofy premise anyway they want (sorry pym fans but someone who can shrink in size and talk to ants seems pretty silly even compared to a team consisting of a billionaire in a robot suit, the god of thunder, a soldier in a basketball mascott uniform, and a not-so-jolly green giant).

It sounds like the movie is picking up steam. I can't wait to see the test reel.

I'm really curious to see how Edgar Wright adapts Pym particles in live-action.

@TheGambitFreak I'm not sure if you're just really excited or it is in fact your actual Birthday. If it is, Happy Birthday!

Also, that awesome cake looks pretty big, mind saving me a piece? ;P

Not too crazy about an Ant-man movie myself. I would be very ok if this stayed in development hell for awhile. I don't know how you can put him in a movie w/the Avengers and have him be taken seriously.

Now the fact that fans seem to love him gives me some relief, but not much. It's gonna take a lot of convincing. But hey, I used to think Aquaman was lame till I read some of his stuff, and its actually pretty flipping cool
