Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Paul Rudd Frontrunners For Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN

While an unrevealed third actor may be added to the mix, both Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) and Paul Rudd (This Is 40) have emerged as the two frontrunners for the leading role in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man, and Marvel are said to be VERY close to making a decision!

Variety have exclusively revealed that the two frontrunners for the title role in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man are Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd. Both actors have extremely impressive resumes, but this would be the first time that Rudd has been attached to a superhero project (he did once have a fairly nasty dust up with Lou "Hulk" Ferrigno in I Love You Man of course...). Levitt on the other hand has starred in The Dark Knight Rises, will soon be seen in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and was at one point rumoured to be up for the role of 'Star-Lord' in Guardians of the Galaxy. According to the site, "Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of one more actor being added into the mix." Which of these actors would you guys most like to see play Ant-Man?

Guess Marvel really wants to work with JGL
I, personally, would rather get Rudd

JGL is a good actor, but not for Ant-Man.

Those are two very different actors. JGL is pretty young and Rudd is in his mid-40's. Maybe JGL is Lang and Rudd is Pym?

JGL is a good actor, but Paul Rudd is a more fitting but a more unconventional choice at the same time. I think he'd be more of a draw than JGL also

Holy shit.

I prefer JGL but both would be perfect.

But wouldn't they have to dye their hair blonde if they want to be Pym or even Lang? Oh well I can live without that hair.

Awesome news!

Love them both but NEITHER of them look like Hank Pym. Aaron Eckhart is the perfect choice for Pym.
MrCBM56
MrCBM56 - 10/14/2013, 3:55 PM
Actually I prefer Rudd.

He's a lot more quirky and fast talking, exactly how Pym is.

Either one would be great though.

JGL role in inception actually screams Pym to me.

But my vote is for Rudd. He seems like a good pick actually.
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 10/14/2013, 3:57 PM
Maybe they are casting for Scott Lang? I thought Edgar said that they were focusing on him and Hank would be from the 60's?
Reasonnnn

I'm voting Rudd. Plus Edgar Wright's comic sensibilities will make this very funny and have lots of energy.
TerminalVoyd
TerminalVoyd - 10/14/2013, 3:58 PM
But here's the important question. Are they looking at them for Hank Pym or Scott Lang, as both were rumored to feature prominently in the script?

Paul Rudd would be great. JGL is too...JGL for the role haha
beane2099
beane2099 - 10/14/2013, 3:58 PM
Actually between the two I'd g with Paul Rudd. He;s a better fit for Antman than JGL. I could see aul Rudd totally riffing with Robert Downey Jr.'s Stark too.
marvel72
marvel72 - 10/14/2013, 3:59 PM
not sure who i would cast as ant-man but i would of never considered joseph gordon-levitt,overrated actor if you ask me.

liked inception & looper but its wasn't jgl that made me want to see those movies.
DJRock93
DJRock93 - 10/14/2013, 4:00 PM
Plus Paul Rudd looks more like he could be a scientist. JGL looks like his Don Jon character
