Judy Greer Reveals ANT-MAN Role; Sounds Like We'll See 'Stature' (Eventually)

Judy Greer has finally revealed who she will be playing in Ant-Man, and in the process confirms that we'll see Cassie Lang in the movie. That's Scott's daughter and the character who eventually ends up becoming Stature and a member of the Young Avengers. Who is Greer? Find out here!

There's been a lot of speculation surrounding the role Judy Greer will play in Ant-Man, and if you were one of the many people who suggested Scott Lang's ex-wife, give yourself a pat on the back! Talking to HeyUGuys recently, the actress finally revealed which character she'll be bringing to life on the big screen next year. "I’m Paul Rudd’s estranged ex-wife. We have a daughter together and our relationship is, well, estranged, but I feel like my character is still rooting for him to succeed. I guess that’s about as much as I can say. They gave us all these papers of things we’re allowed to say and things we’re not allowed to say, and I left them in Atlanta. Sorry! [Laughs]" Many of us suspected that Cassie might be included here, and comic book fans will know that she ends up joining the Young Avengers as Stature in her teens, something we'll hopefully see in a few years!

Greer then went on to express her excitement about starring in the Marvel Studios movie, and had nothing but good things to say about director Peyton Reed and her fellow cast members. "I am having so much fun with Paul Rudd, Bobby Cannavale and Peyton Reed. Those guys are so fun to hang out, and I’m excited about that one. I’m excited to see Paul Rudd as a superhero. Hats off to Marvel," she adds. "Way to go, you’ve nailed it this time. Because he is such a peach and he is so funny and he’s working his ass for this role and I can’t wait to see it." What do you guys think?

I have a feeling this movie will surprise people (in a good way) -- the powers of Ant-Man have to be some of the coolest visually on screen, especially for kids...

I feel like this film is gonna surprise everyone. They acquired a talented cast for this. Marvel knows that most people's expectations are low after Wright left. They wanna prove the haters wrong.

....

So no word on Wasp. She won't be in, only as "Hope van Dyne" at the end of the movie probably.

Fail.

I for one am glad and relieved Edgar Wright is no longer directing. He's already strayed way too far from the actual comic storyline and origin of Ant-Man that I wished he was dropped sooner.

Paul Rudd and Payton Reed are much better compliments together.

I'm excited to see Paul Rudd play a superhero too.

I think he'll suprise a lot of people at how badass he is.

@0megaDaGod Paul Rudd would twerk between takes.

Yeah I'm not all that excited for this movie either, but I love that Judy Greer is being cast in more and more movies. This, Jurassic World, and hopefully a much larger part in Planet of the Apes 3.

@Jordanstine

And you know how? To put things into perspective Marvel and Edgar split over creative differences (which is suspect bc theyve been developing for years) and assuming Wright strayed too far from the material is most likely mild compared to what Marvel did to Mandarin

I'm hyped up and ready for some Ant-Man. this thing is gonna slide in under the radar….and kick MAJOR ass. Just watch. It's gonna be a shocker in the same vein as GOTG.

Cassie better be a part of the film! We've never had a superhero trying to save their child before (except Incredibles...and Superman Returns................but those don't count)

@fordel, the real mandarian still exists.

i for was never interest to watch ant man because edgar more because of ant man himself, plus i dont have a strong connection or affinity with him so im on board either way.

@mrHJK i know, that would a cool aspect to see in the movie and could provide emotional moments

The fact that Marvel has no plans to produce a sequel should tell you all you need to know.

I was hoping Judy Greer was playing Janet Van Dyne so we could see a '60's Wasp with that character but since we already knew that Scott had a daughter in this movie it makes sense there would be an ex-wife.

On another note, I am consistently surprised that people still use the excuse of Edgar leaving to not be excited about this movie. While Ant-Man isn't the biggest movie Marvel has got coming -there have been a lot of postive things said during production. I haven't heard anything that causes me to worry about its quality -unlike Fantastic Four. I think it's going to surprise some people pf course ig they would ever admit it.

Plus, if people are saying this movie strays too much from Hank Pym's comic version -then you know who to blame for that. THIS was Edgar's vision -that didn't change. Kevin Feige is on record the MCU and Avengers were altered to work around his particular vision. So all those changes made -well, you know the man behind it.

@ Launchpad do you know this? Did Marvel call you and indicate they have no plans for a sequel or to include Ant Man in anything else in Phase 3? I believe they are going to expand the cosmic universe but didn't see anything else other than GOTG 2 in the announcment. Does that mean GOTG 2 is the only cosmic expansion that James Gunn said he's expanding in the expansion of the sequel? lol.... that's alot of expansion. Awesome.

Cant' wait to see what they're going to do with this film.

I've seen some disappointments in terms of creative choices reported but I also have high hopes for the character.
