Paul Rudd In Early Talks To Lead ANT-MAN For Marvel

After becoming a front-runner & declaring his involvement rumors, Anchorman: The Legend Continues star Paul Rudd has basically agreed to play Hank Pym in Marvel's Ant-Man as he's in early negotiations

His poor poker face almost gave it away during Anchorman: The Legend Continues interviews, but it appears Paul Rudd will in fact portray Hank Pym in Ant-Man, the first installment to 'Phase 3' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There were reports last month that prematurely declared the Oscar-nominated actor a top contender over Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but The Wrap and multiple sources now report that Rudd has just entered "early negotiations" to lead the long-gestured Marvel film.

Rudd has appeared slimmer than usual during promotion for the Anchorman sequel. According to The Wrap, it has very much to do with Ant-Man as the actor is "training for the physical role."

This news isn't too surprising especially considering Joseph Gordon-Levitt has committed to a DC comic book adaptation for Warner Bros. And Paul Rudd has since been the only name linked to the coveted role. As for supporting cast members, we still don't know if there's any legitimacy to previous rumors that actress Rashida Jones may play the lead female role, Janet Van Dyne. Anyhow, Ant-Man is scheduled to shoot in Atlanta, Georgia in May 2014. And directed by Edgar Wright from his screenplay, co-written by Joe Cornish, the film opens July 31, 2015! What do you think?

Awesome! I am down for this. I like Paul as a person and an actor plus it's nice to see an unconventional leading man here and there. He deserves the bigger profile this move will garner him. Can't wait to see Rudd kick ass and be the newest addition to the Marvel family...

i frankly think that cap 2 is gonna have the least amount of humor in MCU, its gonna have humor but it looks like the humor goes down as the stakes and tension racks up in the film

I just hope they don't overdose on the funny pill like Thor: The Dark World did.

***

They didn't overdose the humor in Thor: TDW. It had the same amount of humor that the first Thor movie had. Also, Wright is directing this movie. So, this movie will have plenty of humor.

I always saw Hank as the unconventional looking Scientist guy.
Someone who looked younger, was tall and blonde.
Rudd always seems nerdy.

I was hoping they'd go for a dramatic actor but this seems like it's gonna be a comedy anyway. Rudd isn't too good at serious movies.

Either way, I'm excited for this project whoever is cast!

Another thing,
I feel like we see Paul Rudd everywhere.

What was great about RDJ is that it was his big comeback to a high profile role by accepting Iron Man, it was like he'd been gone forever. Hemsworth is a relative unknown and so he was a refreshing addition to Marvel.
