UPDATE: Adam McKay Bows Out of ANT-MAN Talks
Well, this is disappointing. Less than 24 hours after negotiations between Marvel Studios and Adam McKay began, The Other Guys director has had a sudden change of heart about directing Ant-Man
Just a few hours ago, it seemed that Marvel Studios had a new Ant-Man director in Anchorman helmer Adam McKay, who reportedly began talks with the studio yesterday. Reports had even said that McKay was "eager" to takeover the director's chair after Edgar Wright unexpectedly abondoned the project last week. Now, The Hollywood Reporter and other reliable sources reveal that those negotiations have since ended, and McKay has, too, decided against directing the 2015 Marvel adaptation. "The decision is said to be his alone," said mutiple sources. Before he had emerged as the frontrunner to nab the last-minute gig, Adam McKay was also said to be in contention with We're the Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer. Therefore, Marvel Studios is expected to meet with the two and, hopefully, announce one or other... shortly.
Anyhow, with Marvel announcing a director soon, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena and Patrick Wilson, and will release July 17, 2015.
